Schafer and Panitch had differing views on the connection between responsibility and accountability, Schafer believed them to be inherently intertwined and Panitch stated that the Canadian public has lost faith in the accountability of the system. I personally agree with Panitch’s thoughts about Canadians as I do not believe that public officials are as accountable as they should be. Schafer makes the point that when trying to analyze the distinctions between these two qualities, instead of clarification we are left confused and muddled. As stated by Schafer on page 11, it is often difficult to determine who is to be held accountable when something goes wrong within a large organization. In this case, the person who is of the highest ranking
Accountability is defined by department of defense as the obligation imposed by a law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping an accurate record of government property, documents or funds. The numerical end product of personnel accountability process reflects the combat power of a unit.
Accountability is not something I have devoted much thought to or pondered about in detail. While reading Crucial Accountability, I started to recollect experiences in my past where accountability needed to be addressed. I realized that at times, I unconsciously held accountability conversations that were successful; and at other times, thoughtfully pursued accountability conversations that resulted in disaster. I was not aware until I started reading the text that a method exists for achieving success with accountability conversations. Also, I was unaware that my viewpoint and preconceptions could be the reason why some of my accountability conversations have gone wrong. I did not hold myself accountable to preparation before I held others accountable to their infractions!
The reason for this Rbi is to inform the reader of accountability, the duties of NCO's, and failure to report.
Accountability is important, because without it, there's no where to place the blame when mistakes occur. In fact, accountability covers more than just blameworthiness; responsibility, answerability, and liability also come into question when discussing the importance of accountability. The very application of the word, describes a system, in which actions, decisions, and policies are all accounted for (or: kept track of, recorded, and assessed and evaluated). Accountability can even extend into the administration of new policies, that are rendered due to obsolete rules and regulations or just out-right compliancy issues; the governance of decisions that define expectations or verify one's performance-- as well as managing and guiding
The Responsibility Project is a program designed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company that highlights and discusses ethics and morality in a modern context. The project is linked to many electronic conversations (blogs) that highlight positive social and organizational issues through role modeling and demonstrations of social challenges of the modern global world. This work will look specifically at a short film associated with ethics and morality as it impacts organizational ethics. (Liberty Mutual Co, 2012)
The article explores issues regarding the psychology of blame to “norm violators” in cases of rape or sexual assault. It highlights a research focusing on cases that represent exceptions to standard models of blame such as the Path Model of Blame. It explores the Path Model of Blame in accordance to the phenomenon of victim blaming. The path model “outlines the routes to blame from event detection onward and includes judgments of agent causality and intentionality as well as finer distinctions involving consideration of the agent’s reasons, obligations, and capacity to act in relation to the event.”
America would not be where it is without the laws that have been placed and the citizens who follow the laws. In order for this to happen the knowledge and acceptance of the laws are needed to establish order. African Americans had been secluded in the past through harsh laws of segregation. Although many believe disobeying the law is morally wrong and if disobeyed a punishment should follow, Martin Luther King’s profound statement, “One has the moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws” (King 420) leads to greater justice for all which is also supported by King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” Jefferson’s “ The Declaration of Independence,” and Lincoln’s
Principle II.2: Accepting Responsibility for Actions A School Psychologist should accept responsibility for their work. In consultation it is important to monitor interventions to ensure its effectiveness. If the intervention is not working, they may revise, modify or terminate an intervention. Principle II.3: Responsible Assessment and Intervention Practices There should be a variety of different types of sources (report cards, teacher interview, parent interview, social history, a review of information, etc.) in consultation.
The importance of accountability, are being on time and in the right uniform. The main reason we have formations and that we are trying to keep account of personnel to know where everybody is at, at all times. I have learned in the past years that I have been in that being on time is the most important thing that you need to do. For one the accountability of personnel is major, it plays a big role in the deployment and the readiness of soldiers. I would have to say that I was wrong for not showing up at my appointed place of duty I should have gotten up and made it to the swimming pool. But in all things that have been done I have seen that accountability is the most important asset here for
From the documentary SICKO, I believe this paper exemplifies true ethical and responsible behavior by providing logical thinking, energetic debates through discussing the overuse and misuse of the resources provided by our government and private companies, and enhances communication between the author, Michael Moore, and the critical viewers to assess current issues inside our healthcare markets. As a matter of fact, the documentary SICKO and ethical and responsible behavior are driven in the ethics realm to relate with individuals who are actively involved in the healthcare system. Many insurance companies deny claims and the individuals take the first no for a final answer,
As a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist, with nearly 25 years of performing cardiac ultrasounds in South Florida, my company provides a service to communities and local secondary schools by helping to identify a potentially fatal cardiac disease amongst young athletes who participate in competitive sports. Research studies prove that sudden deaths in young athletes have been linked to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HOCM), a congenital cardiac disease. My mission is to help prevent these needless deaths amongst this vulnerable population at the secondary level. As a parent, I feel a moral obligation to families and guardians to make them aware of this silent killer disease. By building trust, awareness, and making informed decisions, we can
Why it is my stongest is because it reminds me tthat my success is in my hand. I am responsible and accountable to every decision I make. The purpose of the instructor is to lead and directs me because I cannot get there on my own. I enrolled at Grand Canyon University tobe a BSN, I have to put in my best, respond and account for whatever the instrutor is giving to me for him to be able to help me effectively. For example, a patient could see the Doctor and a diagnosis of hypertention is made, medications giving to take home. The Responsibility and accountability now falls on the patient to take the medications as ordered to get well.
Due to my recent troubles at work I have been counseled twice in the past several weeks. This has given me a lot of time to reflect at the way I have really presented myself in the Army thus far. I have not always been the best Soldier that I could have been during most of the time I that I have been in so far. Thinking about this does bother me, it means that I could be trying harder to get ahead and better myself as a Soldier and a person. Lets say for example I have been late to work twice in the past several weeks not only to include missing a pt formation altogether. I did this by not ensuring that i had met alo of my neds to ensure that i woudl wake up in the morning. But by doing
When a teenager chooses to drink alcohol there is no way to tell the consequences from it. Sometimes people do foolish things that you won't remember and you aren't able to redo that day over. By drinking, young adults are putting not only your life at risk but your reputation. While some have chosen to commit crimes, such as robbing a store. An organization called Choose Responsibilities directly trying to lower the drinking the drinking age from 21 to 18. Choose Responsibilities is an organization which states “stimulating informed and dispassionate public discussion about the presence of alcohol in American culture and to consider policies that will effectively empower young adults age 18 to 20 to make mature decisions about the
The discussion covering leadership and followership incorporated a topic that struck a nerve with me. When we went into detail about the Five Common Dysfunctions of a Team but, more specifically the Avoidance of Accountability potion of Chapter One of the NCOA Distance Learning Course. The material stated, “substandard performance or behaviors is oftentimes counterproductive and detrimental to the team’s success and merits correction.” I have never been the type of person to “pass the buck” on a mistake, if you commit the infraction then you need to be able to accept responsibility. Being able to do accomplish this with my peers and subordinates knowing will speak volumes about who I am as a person. It will ultimately enhance my leadership
