The book The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a kid name Jonas trying to live in a so called perfect union. Jonas experience develops a theme over the course The Giver by teaching the reader for every action there is a consequence. Although some readers may believe that for every actions there’s not a consequence, Jonas’ experience shows that once Jonas leaves the community he suffers from starvation and also pain. For everything we do there is a consequence. In the text it says, “ The old man smiled. “ So do I he said. But that choice is not ours.” This shows that the choices he picks is going to have some kind of consequences. In the text it says, “And this time I’m not going to tell you the name of it, because I want to be a receiver.” This
