Contextual Factors:
I’m helping out as an intern a small town school, in the Bitterroot Valley, history club. This community is small enough that almost everybody knows everyone and the school is the center of most community events, other than 4-H events of course. With in this community there is an elementary school, middle school, and high school all with in walking distance of each other done that there would be more crossovers between the age groups. The students I will be working with in History Club are high school age students who must have completed Global Studies freshman year with a grade of a B or higher, making most of them between the ages of 16 and 19.
The activity plan that I’ve created will be in the content area of Social Studies, in specific English history. This activity will be having the students looking into the five important couples involved in the War of the Roses and or who lived during the reign of the Tudor family. In order to complete the activity I have planned we will need the mobile Mac-book lab, five flip video cameras, and a Smart-board.

Through my research I found that crafted digital stories would include the following seven elements:
. “Point of View Intentionally told from the point of view of its creator
. Dramatic Question An attention-getter that works to pique viewers' interest
. Emotional Content A storyline that draws the viewer in and stirs an emotional connection
. Economy Carefully crafting a script that relays the intended message while adhering to a time limit of two to three minutes for the entire story
. Pacing Maintaining a rhythm that keeps the audience interested
. The Gift of Voice Using your voice to tell your story” (Crystal
Belonging to a school club often seems like one of the simplest decisions in a student, but two years ago, my courage was not one of my greatest strengths. After school, I decided to challenge myself and become part of STEM one of the experiences that have impacted me the most. I left my comfort zone and was part of an unknown environment and as I had imagined it turned out to be a club formed mainly by men. I persevered and fought against my fears of public speaking and as never before I enjoyed and I continue to savor to the fullest the greatest satisfaction of winning thanks to my own efforts and that of teamwork innumerable triumphs within the club. Because of how much it has meant to me, this year she was part of the board to motivate
Before school started this year, I participated in the Common Ground program as a ground crew member. During the weeklong event, I had the opportunity to not only introduce the incoming freshmen to Fremont, but to each other as well. Each day consisted of various activities, led by myself, the other ground crew members, and the adult facilitators of the program. The activities included multiple small group discussions that were focused on breaking down stereotypes in order to make the Fremont community more tolerant, as well as games meant to allow for the freshmen to discuss issues such as gender, friendship, and ethnicity. My tasks varied from introducing students with common interests to each other to make sure everyone had someone to sit
While these students may work together seamlessly, none of them are the same. They all come from different places in life, attitude, and are made up of all types of races.
During freshman year, I hope to step out of my comfort zone. I feel as if I have lived in a “Northeast Jackson bubble” for my entire life, and I am ready to experience life in a new and exciting place. I have gone to Jackson Academy for a majority of my life, and I would not trade the experiences I have had at JA for anything. The teachers and students here are incomparable and have taught me so much both academically and socially. One thing Jackson Academy lacks is a diverse student body. At least ninety-five percent of the students at JA are Caucasian and have very similar socioeconomic backgrounds in the Jackson metropolitan area. Transitioning from high school to college will be a challenge because I have gone to school with most of the
My high school involvement has been as broad and developed as i could make it thus far. Throughout my time at Putnam City North I have played football, basketball, golf, tennis, ran cross country, and am a member of the swim team. I served as class president sophomore year, and am now an executive board member of our S.U.N. (Students United (at) North) council which is a much larger, school-wide student council that caters to the entire school’s events rather than just the events of my class. I also am a junior representative officer for National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish Club, and was Putnam City North’s recipient and representative for the Hugh O’Brian award. My S.U.N. council and National Honor Society council are currently
Context assessment is about an environment where learning takes place and the adequacy of existing materials. According to author Reiser , R, & Dempsey, J. (2012) “CIPP is defined as context, input, process, and product. Context assessment of the learning environment where a program or innovation is used to establish the objectives and needs for the program, also identifying factors of the environment in which may impact the usage of being successful. Within the needs of assessment of making the program it is used in planning decisions.” Reiser , R, & Dempsey, J. (2012) I am always using materials supporting goals for my students providing school readiness. The author Reiser , R, & Dempsey, J. (2012)states, “input is another
In todays society, you can not turn on the tv or radio without hearing some type of denigrating remark. Unfortunately its the cause of all the social norms. Our nation has been brainwashed by so many factors. Such as tv, radio, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. This topic reminds me a lot of a section in my psycology class “Behavior in Social and Cultural Context”. It talks about attributions within social influences, behavior, ethnic identity, and stereotypes. Which could not fit anymore perfectly with what is going on in the world today, and this topic.
Rachel Bourgeois, a twenty-two year old college student attending Florida Southern College, is currently involved in her senior internship. Working with third graders, Ms. Bourgeois felt as though she had a good idea of what she would be doing during her internship but when it came to applying her skills a definite learning curve took place. Having a pre and post conference for lessons with her supervisors was helpful during her field studies courses. After getting feedback and creative criticism from her advisors Ms. Bourgeois was easily able to pick out things she wanted to improve on. She felt thoroughly prepared in regards to experience, classroom management techniques, and thorough lesson planning methods coming into her internship in
"Digital storytelling provides an authentic personal learning experience- as such; student investment is greatly increased resulting in greatly improved motivation and end product” (Jakes, n.d.). David Jakes’s quote gives us a quick glance into the realm of digital storytelling. Digital storytelling is the use of digital multimedia that includes music, video, voice, and pictures to tell about a topic such as a personal story, or anything else one would want. Joe Lambert (2013) defines it into three different spectrums, “collaboration between facilitator and storyteller”, “the role of literary voice and style that grows out of it”, and “the form the stories take” (p. 37). These stories can take on very emotional
I graduated high school in 2015 at Bayless High School. One class that I remember the most in high school was my leadership class. I was not that outgoing during my high school years but when I took this class, I was able to participate in different activities. This class taught me to try new things and push me out of my comfort zones. I took two college courses when I was in high school, including psychology and sociology. I was glad that I took psychology in high school because I didn’t have to take it when I’m in college. I’m currently a junior in college, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I couldn’t participate in campus events much right now because I work a lot, it’s already hard for me to balance between school and work. When

My school is full of talented, diligent, intelligent individuals. My school offers all students opportunities associate with many activities. I am a part of the marching band, concert band,Student Ambassadors, Activities Planning Board, fashion club, former member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and recently invited to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Being so involved, I am able to gain knowledge on what our school needs to do to provide every child with an exceptional high school experience. It would be an exceptional experience to be able to work in teams with other young adults and be able to brainstorm ideas and to give better opportunities for my peers, dealing with college and other important
In my sophomore year of high school, one of my classmates introduced me to join an extra-curricular club that enabled high school students to test their leadership skills by becoming a camp counselor for fifth-grade students at Camp Allegheny. Every time our school hosted club week, she would pull me aside and direct me to the booth labeled “Camp Allegheny.” When the date to turn in Camp Allegheny applications was soon approaching, she would energetically speak about the fun activities, the involvement with the teachers and fifth graders, and the steaming hot chocolate that was to die for.
Communities in schools is a nationwide program that serves multiple people across the U.S. The population varies from elementary aged children, to young adults. At my specific agency I am working with kids who’s ages range from 14-19. Community in schools empowers youth to stay in school and succeed in life. This population is marginzalied by dominant society as they are expected to know it all. A lot of the kids I work with are considered “millennials” and society has a negative stigma about millienials. I myself am considered a millennial and we are constantly told that we are the lazy, entitled, selfish generation yet. This is true for the kids I work with as well. Many of the students are on the verge of dropping out because they are so
When observing the students, the first day, I noticed how the vast majority of students were involved in some kind of club or sport. Hixson High School is a place where they thrive to make sure each student can become productive citizens in the world and providing diverse clubs or sports team keeps adolescents involved and focused on not only the extracurricular activity, but being an excellent student. This changed my beliefs about adolescents because I didn’t think that most would want to be a part of something that is involved after school that pushes them to be better. I figured most would go to school and go home or hang out with their friends. I know when I was in high school, it wasn’t considered “cool” to be in anything other than be a part of a sports team, so I was glad that things have changed in such a short period of time.
