The majority of the teaching I a do is to 16-19 year olds although I have taught adults in the past. It is a more reciprocally rewarding experience teaching motivated learners. I would like to move into teaching in a prison or in another environment that enables disadvantaged individuals to improve their lives. I am subject to continual observation by my peers, my tutors and sometimes outside agencies such as OFSTED. One of these Ofsted visits has highlighted the need for me to qualify to level 3 in Carpentry. I will therefore have to achieve this, or at least be working towards it, this year. I have put in several requests for extra help for those who have need of learning assistance over the last two years that I have worked for Milton Keynes College. This has sometimes been found wanting in my opinion. We have excellent assistants just not enough of them. After feedback from my peer observation and my students in know I am not the only one who feels this way. I will chase this issue this year. I enclose two peer observation records, one graded and one supportive (see Appendix A). I also ask my students for feedback on their classroom experience. This is done using the college ‘Conversation Record’ paperwork. I have included three of these in Appendix B. My employer facilitates in house professional development. There is a record of these training sessions in Appendix
