Shark Research Paper
Did you know that you are more likely to get struck by lightning then to get bitten or killed by a shark? A lot of people think that sharks are demonized creatures; but really they are amazing creatures. The people at Ocearch are tagging sharks to help humans learn more about them. Since they are doing this, maybe people will understand their benefits. Then they will get the protection they deserve to keep their species alive.
Sharks, such as Buzz, are amazing creatures and have many unique features. To start off with, Blue Sharks live in deep water. They also prefer cooler waters and are extremely fast swimmers. One unique trait about them is that they jump out of the water to see prey, like humans, above the water. Another couple of cool statistics about them is that the average Blue Shark is 12.5 feet, and they have a maximum weight of about 450 pounds. An interesting thing about them is that a litter of pups can be from 4 to more than 130 sharks! Finally, from reading books and researching on websites, there are a lot of terrible things that humans have done to sharks. For example, a Blue Shark’s skin is used for leather. In conclusion, sharks are amazing aquatic animals and we are learning more about them everyday.

Every Jaws fan knows the shark gets it in the end. What they do not know is that too many sharks have gotten it; and that has caused a rapid decline in the shark population over the past thirty years. Since the 1970's, sharks of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico shores have declined eighty-five percent. Sharks are vital animal to our world's ecosystem, and if the decline is not controlled; we could be facing devastating problems in years to come. Information has been obtained from two books: The Shark Almanac by Thomas B. Allen and Sharks, An Introduction for the Amateur Naturalist by Sanford A. Moss. Sources also include a number of online references, among them BBC News, ENS News, The New York Times, and two online scientific

On ABC’s Good Morning America’s Weekend Adventure special, viewers were taking to new depths of excitement and adventure as tourists went face to face with the beautiful Caribbean Reef Shark off the coast of the Bahamas. The video clip we saw showed tourists from around the world getting up close and personal with these huge, majestic fish. Participates were ecstatic after there trip down under with the fish. One tourist says, “No other dive compares to it”. How have these people been attracted to these adventure dives, and what makes these so appealing? Those are the questions I will explain in the next paragraph.
Sharks are some of the world's most dangerous and efficient predators, known for dominating the oceans for millions of years. Thanks to movie classics like Jaws they are often exclusively perceived as large, powerful, killing machines, but the truth is sharks come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Recently, scientists found the carcass of what's considered the smallest shark in the world. The distinctive “pocket shark” was discovered off the Gulf Coast, and is the second specimen ever found.
Thanks to the movie Jaws, many people are scared of sharks. Seeing a fin in the water terrifies all but the most experienced of beach goers. Sadly, this perception means that most do not really care if the sharks are hunted to extinction or not. However, society’s opinion on sharks needs to change if we want any hope of saving the world’s oceans. Sharks, as an apex predator, are an important part of the ocean’s food chain.

In “What do you know about sharks?” by Sharon Guynup and “Great White Sharks” by Peter Benchley the clique thought of the “anthropophagous”, savage, and villainous shark is turned on its head. The two articles take widely accepted myths and debunk them with facts. Evidence that supports that the fish aren’t the vicious marine people-eaters that the media has depicted them as has been found. In this text the findings on the animal will be explored. This is the shark’s Real Bite.
In the study of the main character Beth in the short story “ The Truth about sharks” can determine that the she is a dynamic character because throughout the story Beth’s personality changes. This is shown throughout the story her character changes as the story progresses from a coward to someone who is willing to stand up for herself. In the story Truth about Sharks by Joan Bauer the main character Beth is a weak willed ,lazy person who is forced to wake up in the morning to do chores and get ready for a party later that day. She is seen walking around the store with unpaid clothes she wanted
But everyone is different and reacts differently to situations. Some people believe that sharks are mindless killing machines and actively hunt humans whereas others believe that sharks are beautiful creatures and should be left to their own devices. The family of Ken Crew gave a statement regarding the question of this essay at Crew’s funeral, which was “Let the shark live. Ken loved the sea and appreciated the creatures that live in it. He would not have wanted the shark killed, and neither do we.” This statement was personally surprising as it could be seen as a rare view, especially coming from the family of a man who was killed by a shark. People who have been attacked by sharks and lived have stated that they feel no ill will towards their attacker. An example of this is Heather Boswell, who went swimming with some friends in 1994 and lost her leg to a shark, although she doesn’t feel that the shark should be killed for taking her
The Amazing Sharks Imagine you are on a surfboard and see see something small and grey coming at you. What would you do? Sharks mistake humans for other prey such as turtles or seals. The black tip reef shark, is also known as the Carcharhinus Melanoperus gets its name from its pointed snout and black tips on the end of each fin. They are considered one of the most beautiful sharks in the whole ocean and are frequently seen by divers. Its average length is 1.9 meters and weighs about 130kg. They live on warm, shallow coral reefs in the pacific, indo and Mediterranean Sea with the deepest depth up to 80 meters. Their proffered water temperature is 15C -24C. These reef sharks are very social and will often be seen in packs or groups with a strong hierarchy system, although they are predators, when they come face to face with another predator they tend to become more shy and timid . Although these sharks are calm most of the time, when hungry they become athletic and energetic hunters, they have a great technique, to launch their whole body out of the surface of the water and roll up to 4 times before falling. They also have perfect pack hunting skills, and will herd a school of fish into the shallows and then feed on them, they can feed on small fish such as herring and sardines, they eat stingrays and smaller sharks. Females are able to reproduce without a male and can give birth up to 10 pups per year, each pup will usually hit maturity at age 4 and most sharks will live until age 13. Conflicts have happened between black tip reef sharks and humans before as we swim so close to them and their habitat, but the rates are exceedingly slow and these sharks would
