“Corporate social responsibility is a hard-edged business decision. Not because it is a nice thing to do or because people are forcing us to do it... because it is good for our business” (Fitzerald, n.d.). In view of the aforementioned citation, it dispenses an intuitive frame of reference into the purpose of this case assignment. As this paper will be expounding upon both the short and long-term ramifications of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Moreover, this case assignment will review the manner in which the Timberland Company has adopted CSR. And, lastly this paper will provide recommendations for those companies that haven’t espoused CSR within their business practices. As has been noted earlier, this now leads us to the initial point of this case assignment concerning the short and long-term ramifications of CSR. Implications “We rely upon past research, both theory and evidence, to develop our hypotheses regarding the implications of CSR performance” (Cho, Lee, & Pfeiffer, 2013, p. 73). Needless to say, corporate social responsibility has become an increasingly significant element of business on a global scale within recent history. Largely due to the influx of businesses influence on social issues, globalization, brand reputation, and the eminence of the stakeholder-company relationship.
