Report and summary of Cosmos a Documentary by Neil Tayson
Cosmos is a TV show presented by Neil and physicist who is really smart and has a lot of knowledge of this Materia. In each episode there is something new to learn and every one of them are really interesting, at least to me they were. This documentary will take you and open your eyes to things you haven’t seen before or haven’t been exposed too. In each of the paragraphs you will find a summary of things I learn and personal thoughts as I was watching this documentary. I will start with episode one.
In episode 1 Standing Up in the Milky Way, Neil begins by giving a brief content on what he is going to talk about in the episodes like explore galaxies, suns, other planets, gravity waves,

These three simple rules help humans understand the solar system, our galaxy and how the Earth is so small compare to the millions of galaxies that exist. Science now, follow these rules and without them I don’t think humans wouldn’t be what we are today. I specie that improve each time and advances forward and looks for ways to live better. For all of these to happen, we humans need to be curious and get all the knowledge possible to …show more content…
Many years ago when we were still primitive, the dog's ancestor was a wolf, but how a wolf turn in to a dog. Neil likes to called the survivor of the friendliest. A wolf is a hunting animal; they are made to catch their prey but what happens when a human influence how the wolves feed themselves. They turned into a dog, basically Neil says that instead of us trying to kill the wolves we fed them. The wolves that were being fed by humans learned to be friendly that way if was easy for them to eat. They wouldn’t have look and hint for they pray, basically be friendly to humans and they would be rewarded with food, survivor of the friendliest. Neil explains that dogs are the first animal that in sense we helped
Humans and dogs have long shared a bond that was based on function. Early dogs that were the least valuable and useful did not make it into today’s time. On the other hand, the most valuable and helpful of dogs remained and created others like them. Ultimately, breed predecessors were produced by breeding the best hunters to the best hunters and the best guards to the best
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, many of the book’s characters show courage. Courage is shown when a character stands up for their beliefs, even when they face heavy opposition. They decide to fight even when they know they will most likely lose, or even if they are the only one fighting. Courage is standing up for one’s beliefs, even if it means standing alone against the whole world. Three characters who show courage are Mrs. Dubose, Atticus Finch, and Arthur “Boo” Radley.
In his article “The Cosmic Perspective”, Neil DeGrasse Tyson introduces us to the idea of the cosmic perspective. This concept puts all humanity in their place, for we are not the center of the universe. Tyson accomplishes this by stating that the issues that seem so big to us are nothing when you see them with the cosmic perspective. He also talks about how the earth is so small that it's like a speck of dust compared to the universe. He goes on to say that without the cosmic perspective we wouldn't even be the people we are today!
Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is to be admired in many ways. The standard way of thinking about an Astrophysicist is that they are introverted, stuffy, intellects, creating mindless boredom on a subject of cosmic importance, insuring that a mere mortal can never understand their concepts at a basic level. Fortunately, Dr. Tyson breaks this mold of previous colleagues and avoids being a scientist full of random, mumbling, brainpower. Natural charisma coupled with articulate explanations allows him to relate a complex equation of the universe so the average person can grasp it at an elementary level. Because of this ability, he is interviewed often for his opinion on a wide variety of subjects that expand far from his professional field. When discussing
Cosmos was always different from the rest of the people, she alway wonder what was out there and seeked to travel everywhere and adventure out, but in her small plant with her very strict parents there wasn't much to do. She was rebellious though and her and her best friend Venus would alway seeks out and discover new things.
They discuss whether they believe life exists on other planets and it gets pretty interesting. They all believe in the possibility of life existing but whether or not we will discover it in our lifetime. One of the cool things they talk about is the "blip" in time, Bill relates it to flashing Christmas lights. When one light blinks on another might be off, and so on. This relates to all the planets we have discovered.
The grey wolf has been transformed into what we, today, call a dog. After years of traveling with humans, the wolf began to change and became adapted and tame enough to socialize with humans. The environment it was placed into was one of the causes for change, and another was the role it played for humans.

One of the the most important scientific ideas I learned from this book was about Newton’s laws of gravity. Though we have learned about this concept in class, I found the most important thing about it not the discovery itself, but what it did to help the advancement of modern science. “Newton’s laws of gravity were the first laws of physics we understood… We’ll find ourselves using these basic notions of forces and gravity again and again throughout this book for understanding the universe” (Strauss 53). This discovery being the first in all of Physics opened the door for more and more ideas not only to be discovered, but to be proven as facts of science. The other most important scientific idea that I learned about in this book was not just how scientist are able to predict the number of planets that can have life, but how scientists can predict the number of planets with intelligent life that we possibly have the ability of communicating with. “Frank Drake took all of these arguments and wrote them into the Drake equation. This formed a starting point for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, known as the SETI. He wanted to estimate the number of civilizations in the galaxy we could be hearing from now” (Tyson 148). By finding a series of variables, such as number of stars in galaxy or fraction of stars
When entering the planetarium to experience this presentation the attendee was seated in a very comfortable, reclining chair that made viewing the domed ceiling of the planetarium very easy. When the presentation began the professor introduced himself and explained what the audience would be seeing and learning about. The lights were dimmed and the room became dark. The presenter then began the program by explaining and projecting what one sees when observing the sky at various times during the day. As the program progressed, stars began to appear on the ceiling of the planetarium. The professor then pointed out and spoke about the various constellations (groups of stars) in the night sky. Once this portion of the presentation was complete, the professor explained that the audience would be seeing a film about the history of the telescope and how two small pieces of glass changed the way scientists and the general public view the stars and the solar system. Following the film, attendees were asked if they had any
Does character or fate play the greater role in bringing about the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet? I believe that that fate played the greater role because it brought Romeo and Juliet together, it caused Romeo and Juliet to be born into enemy families and brought the Montagues and the Capulets together in the end. If fate had not played the main role Romeo might not have ended up with Juliet. I think that character traits would have left Romeo chasing after Rosaline and Juliet married to Paris. If not for fate, the plot would have been completely different.
Rose Director for the Hayden Planetarium, he founded the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History. This was possibly the most significant of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s accomplishments. This department is continually researching new methods and technologies to assist in observation of the universe along with performing research of their own.
There are several theories on how the evolution from wolf to dog came about. One theory is that the human environment attracted wolves. Wolves started following people around to take advantage of food scraps that were left behind. Eventually, wolves lost fear of people, and people lost fear of wolves. The benefits of this new relationship were not just one way. Wolves also helped humans by sniffing out prey and helping them hunt. Success likely meant the humans would share their food with wolves. This is a very popular theory, but it has been disputed. Archeological digs show that the early dogs were not eating the same mammoth meat that the humans were eating. Instead, their main diet consisted mostly of less popular human meat such as reindeer. The prehistoric dogs also had many broken teeth and severe facial wounds. Although these injuries could be from fighting with other dogs, many scientists believe the dogs had been beaten with sticks, leading many to assume the relationship between man and prehistoric dog was not as companionable as the theory would suggest.
For over 14,000 years, humans and dogs have co-existed in the same ecological niche (Clutton-Brock, 1995). The constant evolution of the symbiotic relationship between humans and dogs continues to be one of the most reliable and advantageous connections between two distinct species. The most prominent theory as to how such a mutually beneficial relationship began involves early canids (wolves) scavenging in the waste piles of early human settlements. These waste piles — which were situated on the outskirts of these settlements — contained food scraps and human waste that became a valuable food source for these wolves. Most importantly, this had become very beneficial to both parties.
Have you ever played outside with your dog for a while and lay back to consider about how your dog evolved into whom he is today and how he turned into "family?" Well, over the centuries, dogs have evolved a lot! In between that time, they turned into what we call pets. Because of this, the relationship between dogs and humans has changed over thousands of years, wolves evolved to dogs and the wolves soon became pets.
