Have you ever had a continuous chest pain, that hurts when you ate or did any physical activity? Well, perhaps you have costochondritis! Because not a lot of people have heard of costochondritis, they should learn its symptoms, causes, treatments, and how to learn to live a lifestyle with it. Costochondritis is inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone, or sternum. The inflammation is usually surrounded by the cramping muscles that inflame the ribs and breastbone. Costochondritis usually occurs in forty year olds and higher due to becoming weaker and lifting more weight than they should. Rarely, it occurs in teens. Scoliosis is one of the big causes for costochondritis. There are also some other things that bring along costochondritis. Birth defects, infections, tumors, family history, or genetics can also cause costochondritis. With scoliosis there can be two different kinds of scoliosis spine you can have, structural spine or nonstructural spine. A structural spine is the curve of the spine is rigid and can’t be reversed- caused- cerebral palsy (impair control of movement of muscle weakening and become less flexible over time.) A nonstructural spine is it works normally, but looks curved. One everyday activity to help is stretching. Stretching exercises will help if you stretch the stomach and chest area at the least four times a day. A second one is heat and ice. This technique could work by switching off laying on a heating pad and laying a bag of ice on your chest. Thirdly, you could rest to ease your body and chest to take away the inflammation. Lastly, your food choices. Some foods you need to stay away from is breads, processed food with refined sugars, cake and cookies, especially food that has gluten in it, that causes inflammation in the body.
