Surprisingly to me I couldn’t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815-1844 when the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to mention the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men’s fashion throughout the 1800s. But the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that are worn by the Count of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond Dantès. In what I assume to be an artistic design choice to make the count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if he’s not from France, only comes off as odd and off putting for the time period. Unfortunately since the story of The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional story there isn’t a lot more that I can compare to real world events that took place during the time period, however I can go over some events that the film
The Devil’s Arithmetic features a Jewish girl, Hannah Stern, as the main character. Her and her family live in the United States, as their ancestors had traveled to America after the conclusion of World War II and the Holocaust. The movie goes back in time to 1942 due to Hannah’s lacking interest in learning about her family’s past. The time travel proves as a lesson to Hannah, as it takes her through t he Holocaust with her own family members. Throughout the movie, there are several accuracies and inaccuracies concerning history. Overall, the movie is very precise in reenacting history in order to portray its message about the Holocaust.

1.) How historically accurate was the movie you watched? How do you know? Did any inaccuracies affect your perception of history?
When it comes to the costumes they seem to be accurate based off of my knowledge. Abe had his iconic top hat and beard. There were also many styles of facial hair worn by the men in the movie and based of the pictures I have seen from this time period they all seemed to be accurate. At one point in the movie Mrs. Lincoln is getting ready for bed and Abe is helping her out of a corset. I did not know that women were still using corsets during this period but I found that the style didn’t die out until a little before WWI.

Part of the issue when perusing these reviews is to determine what the critic perceived the purpose of Pacino's film to be. Brennan's hypothesis is that Pacino's primary objective is to find meaning in Richard III, and the secondary objectives include creating an accessible version of the play the Mr. Joe Average can understand, while portraying the acting process when faced with such a formidable text. How a critic views the goals of the film directly relates to how well he or she believes Pacino achieved these goals, so it is important to discuss them.
The movie “The Help” shows the lifestyle of black women in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960’s. A young adult named Skeeter who wished to become a journalist gathers maids to write about their testimonies as black maids, which at first refused because of the fear of getting caught yet later agree. The setting of the movie is historically inaccurate because it didn't go into detail about the civil rights movement and all the things that occurred during this time, which was an important time in history. As well as the Jim Crow Laws, the movie also never spoke about what white people would do to those who were colored for example beating them to death.
The cultural representation of this movie has been contested since it came out in theaters. People have wondered if the
The major historical figures in the novel are all more or less accurate, in terms of the basic facts presented. Louis XIII, Anne of Austria, Cardinal Richelieu, and Monsieur de Treville are all presented without any historical inaccuracies. And there were indeed, King's Musketeers under Louis XIII, they existed as a sort of training ground for the elite of the French army, and served as the King's personal escort in peacetime. Treville and the Cardinal were great enemies, as Dumas portrays them, in fact, Treville was involved in a 1642 plot to assassinate the Cardinal, and Louis XIII was forced to banish his friend. Richelieu did have his own, similarly elite, company of Guards, which did have a great rivalry with the Musketeers, as Dumas describes.(history pg. 4)
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance/ disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director provided equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film’s plot is based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional characters. Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film’s main attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the innovative mode of storytelling (flash back and other techniques),
The historical events that have occurred in the world have shaped the nation, and the culture. These events have been studied, and have been created into historical films. Mel Gibson’s film, The Passion of the Christ is one historical film that has been created to depict the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus’ resurrection is a historical event that has been studied, and is studied by Christians all over the world.
Although viewers have their prejudices on film adaptations, they normally attack the structure of the story, exclaiming that film did not stay faithful to the original story; only when a role is poorly cast do the scrutinizing viewers point out the acting. In some cases, however, the actor’s performance is so precise that it, in itself, carries the
