Beowulf Beowulf is an epic poem about a man who took on many challenges during the Anglo- Saxon period. The Anglo- Saxons helped create Old English, and they created this epic poem called Beowulf. In the epic poem of Beowulf, Beowulf is a mix of a folk story and Christian traditions by faith, loyalty and courage. Beowulf is a Christian and folk story by his loyalty. Beowulf is the king of the Geats (Beowulf’s clan) and when the king of the Danes, Hrothgar, asked for help, Beowulf “would sail across the sea to Hrothgar … Now when he was needed”(116). Beowulf is very loyal to the King because he is the only man who wants to fight Grendel for the King, knowing that all the other men have failed. Beowulf has also shown signs of courage
