Understand the role and function of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in an organization

Learning Outcome: The students will be able to:
E-1 summarize the evolution of the CIO
E-2 describe attributes of CIOs that seem to contribute to effectiveness
E-3 distinguish between the functional and executive roles of the CIO E-4 Understand the importance of leadership in change management

VI. EVALUATION AND ASSIGNMENTS:

A variety of learning activities will be employed including, but not limited to the following:

Chapter readings from the text: Students should read and be familiar with the chapter material and be prepared to discuss the material when called upon to do so, including Week 1.

Case analysis and discussions: Text cases will be assigned and examined. PowerPoint presentations provide an outline of chapter readings. Students may download copies of the PowerPoint presentations from the Blackboard course web site.

Articles: Students may be asked to find recent (current event) articles relative to information technology strategy and/or policy.
