Some of us would say “No”, but the majority of us would leap on the prospect of living the life of a celebrity. Who doesn’t want the perks of vacationing all over the world, having someone wait on you hand and foot, receiving freebies from designers and all the other perks that come with being a celebrity? The question is do we want the downfalls that come with fame? Can we handle vicious tabloid scrutiny, fabrications, and assumptions? Being a celebrity has its perks, but at what cost? Fame and money can be the root of all evil. Never the less, we are contributing to the madness when we purchase tabloid magazines, watch entertainment shows that follow celebrity activities and judge them for their actions.

Fame, to most, seems like a grand dream. Only a select few have experienced the spoils of fame, from the bothersome paparazzi to the masses of doting fanatics, and none have experienced fame in the same way as Betty White. For her, this dream became a fantastic reality. She is universally renowned for the charm, wit, and comedic talent that she brought to each and every scene. Betty White, dubbed “The Queen of Television,” is an award-winning actress who is adored for her memorable starring roles and countless appearances, effectively securing a place for herself in the hearts of millions.

Consequently, by conducting these actions, we are taking away their first amendment right. The value of the first amendment right is really grandiose and perhaps the most crucial right to have. For instance, the first amendment right has shaped the U.S.A to be distinctive from other countries. The first amendment gave everyone, not just common people, the entitlement to freely express themselves. However, with social media watching and judging their every move, it's hard to be a part of everyday life. Even going to the supermarket might have to require a distortion for the media. It's as though celebrities are being trapped in a prison. This is unjust because they never signed a contract agreeing to surrender their lives for the public. It's as if we are making people , who give up their privacy, like robots and force these "robots" to be on top of a cliff overlooking embarrassment and fear. To begin with, King points out that everyone is too obsessed with celebrities. The article indicates that the younger the audience, the more likely they will try to be like them and want what they have. Furthermore, King writes that even though there are positive celebrities out there, people seem to be more obsessed with the celebrities that make bad influences on people. Not every actor, singer, dancer, writer craves fame; most simply want to express their creativity. Wanting to entertain or express your art shouldn't come with the excessive price of a goodbye to privacy. Paparazzi shouldn't be able to freely telephoto lens you while you are in your backyard or in the bathroom without some type of consequence. If someone did that to you, you would probably think it’s extremely creepy and get police intervention.
