Through the workshop on cover letters and resumes presented last week, I learned a few helpful tips. I learned that each resume must be tailored to the specific job or position that you're applying to. This is a vital tip that many job applicants disregard, I myself find myself guilty of submitting the same resume for different scholarships and volunteer experiences. I would question my abilities rather than questioning how I was presenting my abilities. After all the purpose of a resume is to capture the attention of the employer by presenting and highlighting information about yourself that they will find suitable for the job/ position. Another crucial element that the presenter pointed out was that key words must be used throughout the
When developing a message THE RIGHT WORDS are important. There are many factors in choice of word that should be considered they include the audience and intent, expectations, educational level, and profession. These are all key elements in developing a presentation. In my opinion I think that there are two important factors that must always be taken into consideration which are the expectation of the presentation as well as the education of the audience. Which these two this helps the presented to develop accurate means of communication with the audience.
I’ve learned to integrate the essentials of baccalaureate education into my current practice by setting professional goals for myself and learning that I’m in a proficient level of nursing in my current practice as well as what it will take to reach expert level. I also learned how the use of evidence base practice is necessary for this changing healthcare environment and how nursing leadership can help through advocating for policy changes or new policies. The continuous changes in the healthcare environment have also created special populations who require a particular level of care. Also learned how important critical thinking is when it comes to developing a focused plan of care based on evidence along with the necessity of advocacy in
I have also operated as part of a team, for example AUQA audits, scholarship allocations, and large IT projects. Having spent most of my career working in schools and faculties I am well versed in dealing with students, general and academic staff and central units. These include timetabling, graduation, prizes and scholarships, and student and academic administration. I have also provided support to academic staff as required, for example in invigilating assessment items (including online assessment), developing course and subject proposals, reviewing Turn It In reports for potential plagiarism, and enabling advanced Blackboard
Some people say that you cannot change what you refuse to confront. Growing up in Compton it was hard because every action you did had a great consequence. My parents were one of the authorities that set down a path without violence and away from drugs. One of the greatest successes that I experienced in my past was having carried over my community service from where I lived to where I am now. Carrying over my community service experience has made it better for me to be around those who I can connect with and have fun helping others. The greatest failure that I’ve experienced was the choice of friends that I had. With the majority of my “friends” that I had, almost all were under bad influences. That made it harder for me to fit in with kids who I resemble that make me
Some people write a resume as if the purpose of the document was to land a job. As a result they end up with a really long and boring piece that makes them look like desperate job hunters. The objective of your resume is to land an interview, and the interview will land you the job. First of all, you need to back up your qualities and strengths so instead of creating a long list with all your qualities try to connect them with real life and work experiences. In other words, you need to back these qualities and strengths up, else it will appear that you are just trying to inflate things. Secondly, one must make sure to use the right keywords. If you're applying for a Medical Assistant position, make sure you use the correct medical terms and/or
Initially, Alexandra does a good job of giving audiences on how to deal with resumes and interview. The goal of a resume is to land an interview (Alexandra 27). In other word, the resume is a front door of an interview. It is a smart method that putting the most stand out skills at the top of the resume because it catches the recruiter’s impression. In general, the resume should only have one page because recruiters usually look each resumes between three to five seconds. They do not have time to read your second pages due to recruiters generally receive hundreds or thousands resumes for one position. They cannot spend five minutes for looking one resume due to their time is very tough. Moreover, I think that writing the powerful statements are very important.
Reflective practice in nursing is considered an important aspect to nursing. Durgahee ( 1997) defines reflective practice as a process of learning and teaching professional maturity through the critical analysis of experience, whilst John ( 2009) up to date explanation of reflection is learning through our everyday experience towards realising one vision of desirable practice as a lived reality.
Hope all is well with you this morning. You are receiving this email this morning in regards to the information that I received from Jamia Hines about those persons interetested in being an adjunct professor at Chester Career College. I am strongly interested in the English position that Ms. Hines spoke of. Attached you will find my Cover Letter & Resume.
Everyone has a generic resume, one for all the jobs that they apply for. It’s not the right way to attract the attention of the person who will hire you. Your past experiences will not matter if you don’t back them up and state how what you learned in your previous role will make you ready for this new role you are pursuing. For an ECE job, spill outer strategies in a classroom and what age group you are an expert in. For a nannying job, explain how you have great skills within the home environment and nurturing children. For PSWs, make sure that you state how you can make a seniors life easier with the skills you possess. We all matter, we all have skills but if you don’t highlight them…no-one will notice. Make sure that when you are applying for new jobs you tailor your resume to be effective and highlight
I attend the 2017 Fall Symposium Advocating for TESOL at Miami Dade College. My plan for plan for engaging in advocacy for emergent bilingual students would be starting out with something simple as giving families the resources to advocate on their own behalf (Association, 2015). Some resources I would provide families with are brochures, contact information to local agencies, workshops, and district school meetings. In my plan to engage in advocacy I will start out with connecting with others to share/ gain knowledge for ELL students. I would show this by, attending community events, informal conversations, professional learning communities, and through professional development.
Hi, this is Charlie Spencer. I tried to get a hold of you by the phone this afternoon but the line rang busy. I went to the store and saw that the power was out and thought you would be very busy and returned home. I have set up my voicemail on my phone, but I am unable to receive calls during school hours. If you would like to contact me during the day, please email me, and we can set up a time to discuss a part time position. Looking forword to hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration.
This is an assignment about a cover letter I made in Survey of Writing. This assignment was given to helped me experience what a cover letter requires and how to write one. This assignment involves information skills because I needed to do my own research on what a cover letter is specifically and examples of other cover letters. When assigned this assignment I had no idea what a cover letter was. I needed to do my own research and receive help from my peers. I am proud of the amount of time I spent on the assignment and the results of my cover letter. This assignment has also given me a chance to experience something that I will soon do in the future. I never thought that I would do a great job on it but in the end, I got a good grade. I was also surprised how quickly I was able to apply the guidelines and
I totally agree with what the author is saying in the text. It takes time to get a good product out even though we think some people are deep and wonderful they still have the same struggles that we have when it comes to writing. I like this text because it is realistic it is giving an account of first drafts from common day people and shows how it is even for professional writers have problems with. This point is important because as people we sometimes feel we are not as good or capable of doing something not realizing that the people we look up to have the same problems we do. Another point that I agree with the author on is that you have to start somewhere. Many times as writers we don’t know where to start when it comes to writing. That being said we will just sit and think for ten twenty minutes when we could've just been information on the paper and then editing it later. In addition I liked that the author used examples from his professional experience when it came to writing food reviews. By him using details like how he went to the restaurant and sat down with friends and took notes of what was said. This was good to me because it helps me connect with him and the things that he does to write his reviews.
Before I came to college, I felt my writing had to follow a certain pattern and be fixated around one way of thinking. What I was fortunate to learn was quite the opposite. Writing does not have to follow any certain pattern, but can rather be structured through many different possibilities. I was also told in high school that my papers either had to agree or disagree with the given topic, even if I believed otherwise. This formulated a very one-track way of thinking when it came to my papers. Now I know that I can let my mind explore new and exciting ideas. I can agree, disagree, compliment, criticize, and question the author however my heart desires, as long as I have the evidence to back myself up. Many authors in the book, Writing About Writing, explain their processes as well as the processes of others when it comes to writing. As a writer, I can draw on my own processes and relate them to the authors, as well as use their ideas and apply them to myself. Through reading, I have learned new methods of invention, planning and revising, and incubation when it comes to writing. All ways I can use to create more meaningful and creative work.
This fall semester in ESL 91has been pretty interesting, and so far successful. The main object of this semester was to improve our essay writing. We were taught various lab techniques that helped us to improve our English writing skills, such as using appropriate verb tense and how to write a research paper with a works cited. Through my work on the research paper I have learned how to write in an academic style, how to find appropriate sources from an academic database, and how to cite my sources. Most of all, I can say that my reading skills have improved because the research for our papers required me to do a lot of critical reading.
