The opportunity cost of prolonging school for another year does not outweigh the cost of the experience I will gain from MECOP. I could choose to graduate on time, however if I have no field experience I won't have as much to set myself apart from all the other students who graduated as well. Going into my first job the knowledge I have will all be textbook or classroom knowledge. MECOP will allow me to get my feet wet, have a feel for the playing field, understand office etiquette, and how I could apply my classroom knowledge to actual projects. The two years I dedicate to MECOP will hopefully help the transition from full time student to full time employee.
