Antwone "Fish" Fisher is a complex individual who has been through a great deal of psychological and sociological conflicts in his short life. His mother was arrested and then abandons him, he was abused physically and emotional, and then lived on the streets. In short, nearly everything bad that can possible happen to a person has happened to young Antwone Fisher before he has reached adulthood. In his autobiographical book Finding Fish (2001), Fisher explains how the torment that he experienced in his youth shaped the man that he would become in adulthood. Although this story tells about one young man's difficulties in life and how he had to overcome obstacles in order to be a functional and positive member of society, it is really a story about the larger human condition and how every person becomes affected by their experiences.
Michael and Aunt Esther just had another fight. She accused him of hating living in her house and that he hated her it says in paragraphs 1-9. In paragraphs 3, 5, and 6 Cynthia Rylant writes,” ‘ No Aunt Esther I don’t. I don’t hate it here.’ ‘You hate it here,’ she said,’ and you hate me.’ ‘I don’t!’ Michael yelled. ‘It’s not you!’ “ This is an important event because it made Aunt Esther wants to learn more about Michael. Aunt Esther doesn’t want to get into anymore fights. Michael doesn’t either.

In this essay “Sea Stars” by Barbara Hurd, is more than just about sea stars. She tells the reader that humans will face trials and burdens in their life, but will later find hope. Hurd relates the sea stars life to a human’s life to give us an example of her main point. She talks about the sea stars organs and how they are able to regenerate. She includes how they are unburdened and unbothered by having a missing limb and compares it to people who’ve lost their limbs, and faced that burden, but had trouble looking past the pain. In the conclusion of her essay, she brings up the story of Moby Dick just to say that even though our legs don’t grow back, we have to move on with life and find hope.
One reason Michael and Esther's relationship is changing throughout the story is in the beginning
Michael was brought up in poor project housing that was consumed by drugs, alcohol, and gangs. He was pushed in and out of foster homes forcefully being separated from his mother and siblings. As the movie showed in harsh flashbacks, Michael is deeply affected by the forceful separation from his mother. This constant absence from the mother or other supportive figures leaves Michael unable to make a secure attachment to any strong base. Erikson’s stage of trust versus mistrust is displayed due to Michael’s inability to count on the kindness and compassion of others which leads him to withdraw from his surroundings (p 248). This abrupt memory in life affects Michael in his idea of family and commitment. The harsh environment also kept Michael from attending school, and the times he did there was no support for him to even try in school.
"Giant Snail" by Elizabeth Bishop is included in this collection because it displays the theme of nature by describing the physical characteristics of a snail and its surroundings. While this poem is similar to all of the poems in this collection because it focuses on the natural world, it specifically relates to Elizabeth Bishop's "Giant Toad" and "Strayed Crab" since they all take place in the same setting at the same time. I was particularly intrigued by this poem due to the fact that the snail is the narrator and the storyline follows his struggles as he tries to reach a rock by dawn. In fact, this poem is particularly appealing due to its unique perspective and striking details. When the exhausted speaker states, "My body is like a decomposing
On the trip there Leah Anne stopped the car to get a eye-to-eye conversation showing that she takes great care in finding out Michaels past and how she can help him for the better. One night Leah Anne asked a simple question to Michael, if he wanted to stay? Michael responded " I don't like anywhere else" and sure enough she turned the guest room into a comfortable place for Michael with a bed, that he had never had before.
Antwone Fisher was an individual that endured so many things. He faced a lot of challenges that may have seemed impossible to recover from. This story was an example of the many things that some children may experience. Antwone was not raised in an upper crust home. He did not grow up in a home in which his mother and father was present. Instead of having positive role models, he had to live with individuals that were abusive to him. When observing Antwone’s personality, one may refer to two different theorists such as Bandura and Rogers.
They begin to work together to help Skellig when Michael first said, “I took a bottle of brown ale from the fridge and hid it with my torch just inside the garage door. I got my Swiss army knife from my room. I took a handful of cod liver oil capsules from the bathroom and put it into my pocket.” This is because Michael is going to show mina Skellig for the first time and he preparing to see Skellig. This quote is relevant that Michael and mina become better friends is that are working together to help Skellig as a team, so they get to know one another more and they spend much more time together while helping Skellig. I think this makes Michael relived as has one less person to tell who the strange creature is living in his garage. Therefore we can understand that Michael and mina are becoming better friends to help
