Intro
In this paper, I will highlighting the signs of conflict within the movie Crash. The beginning of the movie begins with two cars crashing into each other. The storyline is structured around a group of characters who all come from backgrounds and their paths cross. These characters all have goals they want to reach and sometimes in pursuit of their goals they conflict with one another.

Prospective, Transactive, and Retrospective Goals
A prospective goal is when you know what your goal is before you try to achieve it or take steps towards achieving it. One example is the shop owner's daughter from the film when she purchased the gun. Her goal, from my viewpoint, was to put her father’s mind at ease without having to resort to violence. Her father was prone to getting upset easily, so she bought blanks to put into the gun so just in case he used it, he wouldn’t actually take a life.

An example of this is when the cop pulled Terrence Howard and his wife over and touched her inappropriately. Additionally, because he was in a higher position of power he was able to dominate the couple. Next, Integrative power assumes all parties in a dispute have power (Dunbar and Abra 2010). I believe most of the movie itself is an example of integrative power. With Sandra Bullock, it was the assumption that anyone she deemed dangerous had the power to come and steal from her again. With Ludacris, it was the thought that many parts of society were catered to the deprivation of blacks. Also, with Terrence Howard it was the idea cops or people in higher positions of power could do what they want. To help my argument, they all changed their mindsets in some way shape or form to the point where they weren’t being dominated and tried to assert themselves in some sort of power position, mainly it was to assert themselves as
