Creating a Program Outcome for Baccalaureate Program Introduction: The mission for a Baccalaureate program provides leadership to improve health care and advance the discipline through nursing education, scholarship, and services. Baccalaureate program provides nurses with an innovative education grounded in nursing and related science, humanities, and leadership. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2008), students in the Baccalaureate Nursing Program are better in inter-professional practice. Nurses who graduate from an accredited Baccalaureate program helps to promote, restore, maintain, and advocate for improved health outcome of a diverse population and community. Nurses that have a strong conceptual framework of liberal art education are more diverse in their practices and can connect well with a patient from a different cultural background. 2. Integrate effective communication skills, including health information management to enhance the quality of care provided at individual and aggregate levels. The reason for Program Outcome Two: Effective communication is an essential component in the medical field. The main reason for choosing effective communication as one of my program outcomes is that baccalaureate prepared nurses collaborate with other members of the health care team in planning and providing care for their patients. 3.Utilize evidence-based practice recommendations and professional standards of care to promote health, prevent disease and improve the health status of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations. The reason for Program Outcome Three: Health promotion and illness prevention is an integral part of the nursing practice and the utilization of Evidence Base Practice to enhance patient care. The reason for choosing evidence base practice to promote health and prevent disease is that nurses who graduate from a baccalaureate program should have knowledge in Epidemiology to show how lifestyle, environment, and genetics play a role in the determinant of disease prevention and promotion of health.
