The controversy between the theories of Evolution and Creation involves ongoing disputes about the origins of Earth, life, and humanity. Creation is the idea that a super natural being hand sculpted the Earth, and the things inhabiting it. Evolution, however, is the idea that different kinds of organisms and species developed from earlier forms over a long period of time. Both theories have a sufficient amount of evidence to prove one or the other is correct, or not true at all. For over 150 years, the evolution claim has been through more examination and severe analysis than just about any other scientific theory. In the Christian world, Creationism was once generally believed to be true, but since the mid-19th century, Evolution has been …show more content…

There is an overflowing list of evidence to support the Evolution theory; however, one of the main pieces is that species share similarities that are signs of common ancestry. Put it in terms that are more familiar such as family. You look more similar to your mother, father, sisters, and brothers than say a cousin, or a distant relative. The more closely you are related, you have more characteristics in common. Can we be sure that this evidence isn’t, in reality, just typical design by typical creator? It’s the presentation of the similarities that speak for the theory. Similarities are inherited from common ancestors, and the further back in time two species shared a common ancestor, the similarities seem to lessen. Species that are closely similar tend to live in the same vicinity as well. An evaluation of various, alternative hypotheses have proven that general common ancestry is significantly more probable than other theories. According to EvolutionEvidence.org, “penguin species only live in the Southern Hemisphere; marsupials live almost exclusively in Australia, cacti almost exclusively in the Americas, lemurs in Madagascar, etc. If evolution is not true, this geographic patterning would make absolutely no sense” (“Three Main Pieces of Evidence Supporting …show more content…

These fossil records show that the Earth has in fact changed rather greatly over time. “Thousands of human fossils enable researchers and students to study the changes that occurred in brain and body size, locomotion, diet, and other aspects regarding the way of life of early human species over the past 6 million years” (“Evidence of Evolution”). Without the discovery of fossils, the theory of Evolution would not be as widely believed. In addition to the study of fossils, “the study of human genetics show how closely related we are to other primates, and how closely connected we are with all other organisms” (“Evidence of Evolution”). With the aid of fossils and human genetics scientists have been able to prove the claim. If the theory of Evolution is correct in its claim that today’s animals can be mapped back to common ancestors, it is reasonable to expect that there should be some trace of these ancestors in the fossil records. Fossils can’t prove that one species evolved from another, but when a series of them are found over time with slight mutations; it is challenging to deny the idea of Evolution. For example, consider the whale evolution recorded in fossils found. The oldest known whales looked like land residing mammals, but have ears similar to whale species living today. This suggests that the whales had adapted
