At the picnic on the field close to the river, Audra sat beside her friends on the blankets they had spread out, sipped mead, and grinned. A springtime afternoon – one that felt more like summer with its warmth – with her friends, their children, and her mother, was just what she needed to raise her spirits.
Audra and Ina created a shady spot by covering by draping a blanket over sticks to shade the new babies from the sun, and they slept. Elen and Dera snacked on berries, then started mashing them to make “jam” for the bread.
“Oh, dear.” Faye frowned. “That’ll be quite the mess.”
“If it is one thing I have learned, it is to let go of the small things,” said Ina. “Enjoy your time with your little ones. That was something I did not do.”
Audra leaned over and kissed her mother on the

They’d filled a bowl with dirt, rocks, and river water and floated their small toy coracles in it. The boat makers had spent an evening with the children making these toys, and Rory declared soon, he would start building a real one.
“We need a river battle!” said Dillan, spinning his coracle and making whooshing sounds.
Rory picked up one of his carved wooden knights and stuck him in a boat. “I challenge thee, Sir Knight, to a water duel!”
The little girls rolled their eyes while the women sat back and laughed.
After the chatting and playtime ended, everyone settled down and devoured a picnic meal of roast lamb slices, bread, soft cheese, and fried leek rings. As per usual, the boys devoured the offerings, but still had room for sliced strawberries.
The babies grew cranky and the girls said they wanted to go to the library, so Faye, Travana, and Una returned to the castle with their children. Ina and Audra remained behind with Rory. He was still fixated on his toy boats.
Ina gazed at him fondly. “He is so much like you, curious and smart.”
“Yet much quieter.”
“That’s because he is a wise soul in a little boy’s body. I can see

Once they were there, the quarter-mile trek to their place had to be made. It was a small, circular clearing in the cone-bearing woods. The area around the fire pit was dirt, for safety reasons. On the outskirts of the copper-colored dirt were five large, round logs arranged in a circle for sitting. Just a few feet beyond the logs, the forest began again in copious amounts of vegetation and growth, like an untamed lion. That night’s weather was just right. The cool air was
Armed with her best parasol, she left the house after briefly saying goodbye to her extremely distraught father. Their carriage made it’s way to the fair and dropped them at the front, but after less than two hours perusing the grounds, another storm rolled in. The rain came fast and hard, drenching the pair within minutes. They huddled under the scant protection their umbrellas offered while waiting for the coach. Once inside, they giggled and began peeling off their more delicate accessories, gently laying them out while assuring each other the wet would not harm their
The warm summer breeze was a nice change from yesterday's bitterly cold southerly wind. The sun was shining brightly and the lawn was shimmering green. Charlene was out on the veranda, watching her two babies frolicking around on the grass. Owen, dressed in an army green button-up shirt and knee-skimming shorts, was running around wreaking havoc on the ant nests by the oak tree.
The indication of morning had approached; wind halted while the air became temperate. Morning routine of the birds, fetching food for their children, communicating with the others, hatching their eggs. Newly seeded grass shooted out, growing like weeds. The air reminded Mary of a camping trip when she was younger in Yosemite Park. Pinecones and trees gave her the happy memories, ones of her husband and her only child before the accident.
The meeting was starting. The leader, an older woman with green eyes who looked familiar somehow, stood at a little black podium in between the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions posters, the neon AA triangle symbol glowing powder-blue, hopeful, behind her.
They gave Badger three days to get things set up before they began the operation.
Cats. They are filled with emotions that no owner will understand. The intensity, and hilarity, and the character that felines hold can entertain anyone, but there is one cat that will blow you mind, and her name (pun intended) is Asstro. She is a ball of fury and ferocity, and she is the strangest cat you'll ever see. A few examples of her curious ramparts are...
“Beep beep beep” the alarm clock continues to sound off. Exhausted, I turn to the clock, it reads 5:45 am and as usual Jesika is dead asleep. See my roommate has this infuriating habit of setting goals that she can’t keep. This particular goal is to convince herself every night that she’s going to get up early, going to work out, going to straighten her hair, and going to captivate all the men in class with her delightful apparel. At this point I’ve known her for two years, it has never happened. “Jesika” I screamed over and over again, and of course, not a word from Jesika. At this point I am frustrated because I am on the top bunk and I do not have class until twelve. None of this matters now, once I move I am up for the entirety of the day.
Today after dinner Nyasha and I had decided to go on a walk since the weather was really nice. I ended up asking her about her mother's education and she stopped me “Tambu my mother does not want respect if she did she would stand her ground and not let my dad have the amount of control he has on her now”. I was shocked by her answer but was not surprised because it did come from her. But she was not done “Even when she goes back to the homestead it gets even worse. It is like she bows down to him like he is her master or something. I just do not get how she could be my mother because if that was me I would have been gone a long time ago.” After her rant, I just looked at her stunned I looked at her straight in her eyes and she looked
Lanea was having a sleepover. Lanea herself invited her BEST friends, Josey and Caren. Josey was the first one there and she was three hours early. Josey was Lanea’s favorite BFF. Josey and Lanea first went to the bunnies, obviously, they are so soft, cute, and cuddly. Lanea and Josey’s favorite bunny was Blazerina, Blazerina adored people.
The crowd gazed at the green-skinned woman in silent horror. She had already gone around terrorizing everyone in the square. Vella and Shay heard Oz whisper something to Glinda. The woman whipped around and looked at him.
Tera laughed a bit as Oz insisted he had the big brute where he wanted him. They both knew better but she just smiled, "I'm sure you did, but we don't have time for you to play with them." she spoke without looking up as her attention went back to their bigger problem.
Idmaer saw in Saega’s eyes a resolve that would not waver. With Agnerod’s Touch and whatever magic made him into the monster, Saega could torment Idmaer without end. That much could be endured. But to have Edoma torn apart with Idmaer’s own hands. That was something he couldn’t endure.
“ It’s hard to have a cautious child when I’m so adventuresome, but it’s better to accept who he is than be angry at him.”
