The stars twinkled and winked like diamonds in the ink black sky. The waves
lapped at the shore, crashing against the rocks. The moonlight danced on the calm
ocean water. At the far end of the beach, was a mirror. Instinctively, Tessa found
herself walking towards it. The sand was like soft white dust under the silver light
of the moon. Tessa gazed into the mirror and of course saw her own reflection.
Long dark hair that made her already pale skin, appear ghostly white and her big
grey eyes stared back at her. However, what she saw behind her, made her gasp.
Instead of the beach reflected behind her the mirror reflected.....nothing. There
was just darkness behind her. Suddenly Tessa felt herself falling forward, into the
darkness,

Tessa knew she was punishing herself for no reason;
that the pain was only a temporary distraction from what her life had become. Or
what she had made of it. She spent many sleepless nights thinking about death,
marvelling at the blissful oblivion it brought with itself.
Tessa got dressed. After taking the car keys from the drawer and leaving a
scribbled note taped to the refrigerator, explaining her absence, she left the house.
About an hour later, she was driving down an unknown road when suddenly it
happened. A truck appeared out of nowhere and collided with the car. To Tessa,
it all seemed to happen in slow motion. She felt a tremendous jolt that shook her
whole body. Her heart seemed to leap out of her chest and a ringing sound filled
her ears. The edges of her vision began to blacken and she felt herself collapse,
the darkness engulfing her. The last thing she was aware of was a blinding pain
originating from her head.
In the dream, Tessa was on the same beach that she had dreamt of the other
She gazed into the shimmering water, she could see the bottom of the pool in the bright sunlight. She went over the lessons Akemi had taught her in her head, she had studied and worked very hard. She knew what to do, but somehow that knowledge seemed to get fouled up between her head and her arm. The bottom of the pool faded away and the water suddenly seemed to stretch off into infinity. A woman materialized in the water and the bottom reappeared. The woman rose up from the pool of Morpheus and waded out toward her, Josie hadn't seen her since she was a girl, but she recognized those icy blue
Ella Grace stood in front of the familiar mirror and was disgusted by her appearance. She never had been comfortable in her own skin, but she would always feel even more out of place for 12 days out of the year.
It was as if she didn’t care if I was even disposed of.” She turned around and walked toward the elevator. She pressed the button and (again) looked at her face in the mirror. This time, her reflection looked much more confident than before.
Then not so far off, I saw Tia and her mother and I ran to her, for she was all that was left of my life as it had been. We had eaten the same food, slept side by side, bathed in the same river…When I was close I saw the jagged stone in her hand but I did not see her throw it. I did not feel it either, only something wet, running down my face. I looked at her and I saw her face crumple up as she began to cry. We stared at each other, blood on my face, tears on hers. It was as if I saw myself. Like in a looking-glass (41).
She stares at herself in the mirror, examining every self inflicted scar from picking scabs. Her skin tone is grey and dull. Her hair has gotten oily and unkempt. She stopped caring about her looks and was not aware of it. There are age spots on her face that seem to have appeared over night. She touches her face and strokes the bags under her eyes with her finger tips. She looks now at what used to be a beautiful smile and cannot believe that her teeth have decayed, they are almost gone. It saddens her and she looks away. She feels ashamed of what she has become. She looks back at the mirror only to be looking into her eyes. With a hoarse voice she utters the words, “How did this happen?”
As the wind brushed the back of my dress, I turned around to overlook the waves of golden ocean, pouring into the small town I called home. But, my eyes became fixed on the sun. It was so wonderful, so beautiful as it rose out of its slumber in the mountains. I always felt the sun’s warmth on my cloudy white dress, and I loved how it always felt like my father’s hugs.
No sand could run through her toes; they were blocked and webbed by nylon. Clarissa reached one of the pillars, closest to the rippling waters upon the shore, and embraced it by hugging it. No one was around this area, so she had not a care in the world. She pretended the rough wood at her frontal side was that of Johnny’s body and hands having his way with her. But the excitement must have been too much for her; her breathing became very shallow. A tingling sensation came over her. Clarissa’s eyes became blurred, but she stayed as fixated as she could to the incoming water that was now running through her leggings at her feet. The cold water sent her into a chilled world. The moments went by and she held on to the scene ahead, and to the thought of Johnny’s love for her, but she eventually collapsed right there as the water came up to her one last time while she was somewhat conscious. She was no longer breathing and her crisp outfit was becoming drenched from the water that had approached. It was official…Johnny would never see his femme alive again. And Clarissa succeeded in keeping herself in the shadows so that Johnny could never see her suffer at the very
My reflection mimicked my actions in the bathroom mirror as I slowly straighten my hair. The process never exceeded fifteen minutes, reasonably because my hair was naturally dull. Slowly, I flicker my eyes towards the mirror out of curiosity. There was something about the lifeless look in my eyes, that even makeup couldn't cover up. The previous nights events flash across my mind.
It was dark over Shawano Lake. The moon shone on the water, bright and glittering as diamonds. My feet were hanging off the edge of the dock, barely skimming the cold, murky water. Music was spilling softly from my phone. CREAK. THUMP. CREAK. This was not part of the song. I turned to see my brother, Evan, coming up behind me.
The only thing Prim was sure of was the world she’d once lived in was very different to the world she was living in now. Primrose Everdeen lay on her bed staring at the pale grey of the ceiling in complete darkness. Since the reaping, her daily life had felt so surreal, to the point where she was certain this was all a dream. Prim’s balance of reality had toppled over and everything she was once certain of has been cast into doubt. Prim sat up slowly, carefully getting to her feet, worried the ground may not be as solid as she once thought. She floated down the hallway, catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror on the wall. Her blonde hair hung lifelessly over her narrow shoulders, her skin was pale and colourless. She paced down the narrow
She was found in a bad place. She was a mirror - a mirror that which countless fists had punched and shattered into shards of glass that reflected only bits and piece of who she was. Her pieces for discarded all over the floor, stepped on, ignored, left to be broken into slivers and ground to dust.
In the morning, Claire spied a mirror from her bed and asked one of the nurses to hand it to her. With the piece of reflective glass, she caught a glimpse of her own reflection. She hadn’t seen herself in so long. Her dark auburn locks were plastered to her abnormally pasty skin. The green of her eyes was barely visible because they were sunken back in her sockets. She looked like a hot
The river was black now under the night sky and glassy, a black mirror in which every lamp raised a pole of light and the conflagration in the sky above dropped an occasional piece of gold. The line of people on the other bank was clearly reflected in it. Anna's image was quite still beneath her. I wondered if in the river...my own reflection was as vividly shown. (191)
When she rose out of the pool of Morpheus, Jayna could see again, oddly Henry was already out of the water, pacing nervously back and forth. Jayna looked at the bright new world around her, she'd only been blind a short time, but the relief she felt was tremendous. She'd felt so helpless before, now she felt she could take on the world, at least until she noticed Raphael sitting on a rock. Then she remembered she no longer had anything to hide and actually smiled at him.
SPLASH!, Nothing better than a beautiful day at the beach in Avon with my Mom and Friends. We picked the spot where we always sit. Next to the lifeguard and the water in front of us. My mom would always get mad when people just plop down right in front of us, and some people just touch our things for no reason. Once someone was sitting on my surfboard and my mom got extremely mad about it. Now we put the boards in front of us.
