Walking outside Titus saw the mule standing by the water trough, he already had his bridle on his head, and the blanket across his back, but there was no sign of Hootie. “I wonder where the bird is?’ Titus asked, as the farmer helped him up on the back on the mule. “I am sure he is close by and will join you soon” the farmer said as he patted the mule on his butt to get him started. Leaving the path that led to the farmhouse Titus turned the west on the main road in the direction of the village. Turning his head when he heard a familiar squawk he could see Hootie flying nearby. Lee said, as she crossed her arms across her chest. “It was my pleasure to have you stop to visit and have lunch, and for what you did to the dragon, you will never have to pay for food here." ‘You have done this village a great service, and this is my way of thanking you.” Titus stood facing Mrs. Lee “Your food was delicious.” Bowing in her direction, he said, “Once again, again I thank you.” As he straightened up, he held out his right arm and in his hand was a bouquet of flowers. Exiting his arm toward her, he said, “These are for you." Having a passerby help him get on the mules back Titus turned and patted the blanket behind him. Setting in a nearby tree, Hootie flew down to take his place behind Titus. As they started their journey to the castle people would smile and wave as they rode by. From time to time, someone would make the sound of an owl trying to get the big birds’ attention. Hootie enjoyed the trip and would twist his head from side to side look at the people making noise. . The mule seemed to sense Titus desire to get home because he quickened his pace. It was a slower trot that did not cause the boy or the owl to bounce up and down to the point that they may slide off his back.
