INTRODUCTION
Creativity: “The use of imagination or original ideas to create something.”
Design: “The art or action of conceiving of and producing a plan or drawing of something before it is made.”
-Oxford Dictionary.

The concept of creativity is widespread and its uses are numerous. It is not only found in visual theory but also in books emphasizing the value of creativity as the measures to psychological well-being and success. It is important at both the individual and societal levels for a wide range of tasks. At the individual level creativity can lead to a new ways of dealing with daily life and problem solving where as at the societal level, it can lead to new scientific findings, new inventions and social reforms. However, over the years, from the early years of mankind till date various theories have been developed about design and creativity. Some people assert that theory brings lot of benefits in creativity while many others argue that its drawbacks should not be ignored. It is quite understandable that people from different backgrounds put different interpretations on the same issue.
This writing aims to understand creativity styles and there relationship with theories and discusses the need and role for theory in design.
