Police officers and those who supervise and manage them are only as successful as the environment allows them to be. With regards to the intelligence function, law and policy, citizen support, resource availability, agency cooperation, political environments, and other elements of the environments in which departments operate are just some of the issues that determine the ability and successfulness of agencies to create a useful intelligence product (Carter, 2010). Some beneficial means of working with these issues include proper planning and research, opening avenues of communication and cooperation with other agencies, and training.

Reading such an article makes me understand why so many who have similar political beliefs as you are being taken to jail. The Amendments found in the United States Constitution contain several provisions to protect citizens from various infringements from the government. These provisions have greatly influenced what law enforcement is today. Due to the power of a law enforcement official, the public expects officers to be held to a higher ethical standard. Part of that expectation entails that officers will follow in the law and lead by example. Unfortunately, no one is perfect and departments will always have those law enforcement officers who stray from what is right and act questionably on and off duty. Every encounter law enforcement have with a subject/public doesn’t require an arrest, search or seizures. However, we as law enforcement officers help assist with referral for woman and children, to various services in the city. Law enforcement officers, also provide first response to emergencies and other serious threat to person and public safety. I most definitely love helping and supporting individual's however much as could reasonably be expected. Furthermore in some cases law enforcement officer do more customer services to the public more so than arrests. For instance, in my department, every Christmas we find a family that’s in need to sponsor, officers would get together and purchase gift for one person in the family.
