The Office of Victim Services (OVS) seeks to ensure that the victims of crime at Kennesaw State University become an integral part of the criminal justice system. Through education of the rights and services available to KSU crime victims, collaboration with KSU Department of Public Safety and University Police, and the Cobb County judicial system, the KSU OVS staff believes that the voices of crime victims will become a necessary component of the justice system in this state. The primary goals of the KSU OVS are to aid in reducing trauma to the crime victim; reduce the level of secondary injury associated with the aftermath of crime; and to aid in the prosecution of criminal cases by ensuring that crime victims and witnesses are provided
The Criminal Justice system, created by governments in order to make sure that no laws are being violated and to penalize individuals that violate the laws. In the United States there are many criminal justice systems. Each system works based on their jurisdiction. For example; city, county, federal or state. Every jurisdiction is different. They all have different ways of regulating certain processes. They also have their own laws. In the criminal justice system there are two main systems; state and federal. These two systems consists of five parts; corrections, courts, prosecution, law enforcement, and defense attorneys. Each of these five parts hold an extremely important role. Prosecutions consist of prosecutors who are lawyers the represent

From small states to national legislation, the concept of victims’ rights has become a growing concern. The organization VALOR (Victim Assistance Legal Organization) was hard at work for 16 years before gaining national recognition. In 1995, The United States Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime awarded VALOR a grant to create the National Victim Assistance Academy. This academy would train individuals to deal with the emotional and legal needs of victims (VALOR, 2005). Programs such as those in Summit County, was the base for the legislation changes brought on in the 1980s. From that development, the county has evolved to teaching law makers, officers and representatives how to deal with victims rights. Considering in 1970 victims’ rights were nonexistent, the last three decades have been very impressive.
I believe that children who enter the juvenile justice system on series charges such as murder, rape, armed robbery, etc. need to be examined very closely when making the decision to try them as an adult. Not only is past criminal charges something to take into consideration, but also the child’s family life, where do they come from, what types of supports do they have, where they victims of abuse, and did they witness physical violence at some point in their life. My experience in working with the Juvenile Justice System is that they would like to keep juveniles out of the jails and focus on rehabilitation. I fully support rehabilitation for youth who have
Liberty has certainly been placed on the back burner this election cycle. From the 3 debates between Fmr. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, to the Vice-presidential debates between Gov. Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Kaine, there was no substantive discussion of liberty-minded issues. Meanwhile, Congress is away campaigning for their November elections.

While the United States is often referred to as a democracy, it is not (Cronkhite, 2013). In a true democracy everyone would have the choice to do as they please and the result would be lawlessness. In a true democracy each individual would choose to do as they pleased, there would be no uniformity as to what acts are legal or illegal. The United States is a republic where the majority rules. Representatives are elected by a majority of voters to enact laws. This allows for the maximum freedom for all individuals (Cronkhite, 2013). Under a republic, individuals give up some rights in order to guarantee that they have others and in order to be able to peaceably coexist with others (Cronkhite, 2013).
When considering the U.S. juvenile justice system as compared to the Beijing Rules the U.S. for the most part aligns with the current guidelines. One in particular the U.S. could incorporate or improve on is the services shall be systematically developed and coordinated with the view to improving and sustaining the competence of personnel involved in the services, including their methods, approaches and attitudes.
In this day and age, there seems to be an increase of mental health disorders among youth. One reason to explain this theory is substance abuse among youth, which is shown to take a heavy toll in their personal life. When these youth become institutionalized, their mental disorder becomes at a higher level due to the environment and improper treatment. The institutions that are meant to serve their clients (juveniles) need rehabilitation. The high percentage of mental health disorders in the Juvenile Justice System need different types of levels of care in mental health with specific individual treatments.
I think the juvenile justice applies to criminal that are under 18 ad the point of law where a person under 18 is not held responsible for any or most criminal acts committed unless otherwise stated by the court. Determining the punishment also plays in affect to juvenile justice.
The concept of legitimacy in a democratic government entails a system in which citizens have control over their representatives’ actions through the electoral process. Chief prosecutors throughout the United States are elected, for the most part, every four years. With the exception of Alaska, Connecticut, and New Jersey, the rest of the nation chooses their chief prosecutor via elections. Traditionally, elections serve as a process to allow citizens to regulate their elected representative, which places that elected representative in a position where he must be accountable to his electorate base or risk losing his position. Considering that prosecutors hold power and discretion to bring forth charges, offer plea deals, control funding, determine
Being involved in my internship with the Allen County Coroner’s Office has really opened my eyes to the variety of career choices that are available in the criminal justice system. The location of our building and the nature of our work makes it easy for me to interact with other departments. For example, I have gotten to see how the fingerprint lab operates and what they do daily; I have seen the wide array of activities and duties that crime scene does for the city; and I have experienced what it would be like in a more medically based forensic occupation such as a pathologist.
The growth and decline of the economic activity was closely related to the macroeconomic health, which was measured by the gross domestic product (GDP) and the rate of unemployment. The decrease of income and employment opportunities will lead to the increase in the criminal activities because people needed to resort to illegal activities to maintain the livelihood. There were two perspectives about the impact of the increase of income, in which one was the increase of cost of committing crime, that was the decrease of criminal activities, and the other was the increase of expected benefits to a burglar, that was the increase of criminal activities.
This paper will discuss the criminal justice systems of the United States of America and the Republic of China. While comparing and contrasting the nuances of these systems one should base his facts with the premise that both have been instituted in their respective countries in the attempt to primarily curb the proliferation of crime, proceed to apprehend offenders and act to deter potential offenders. The criminal justice systems in both the countries make use of a court system, police enforcement establishments and correctional facilities. However, the similarity falls short of the radical differences which are rooted in ideologically opposing government structures.
Since 2007, there was an aggregate number of 469 calls provided details regarding 166 instances of human trafficking, it may not appear that much but rather it's an enormous arrangement perceiving how little the state is and how constrained transportation is around the state. This incorporates 475 victims that were saved or will be saved for the current year. A repayment of human lives whose of which may move toward becoming thrivers if this hasn't emerged And if that objective is innocuous and is a remark fittingly glad for.
