What is the criminal justice system composed of? The criminal justice system is composed of law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Law enforcement is in charge of enforcing the laws set by the legislature. Courts determine if a law has been broken and punish the person who has broken the law. Corrections make sure the penalty the person gets is enforced.

What is the purpose of the criminal justice system? The purpose of the criminal justice system is to keep society safe. The criminal justice system keeps society safe by setting rules that define prohibited conduct for society. Once a rule has been broken there are accusations and law enforcement has to intervene. They enforce the laws and investigate if that person needs to be arrested.
