I will present students with the definition of crime.
I will then have students brainstorm all the different crimes they could think of that exist in America. I will be creating a list on the smartboard based on student's responses.
Next, I will introduce students to the activity they will be completing. Students will be reading different situations and determining if they believe a crime took place. Students will rate the situation on a scale from 1 to 5. 5 being they believe a serious crime has been committed and 1 being they believe no crime took place. I will do question 1 on the worksheet as a whole class, then have students work in groups to rate the rest of the situations.
As a class we will go over the different situations and students will be sharing how they rated the situations. Students will then discuss why they rated the situation the way they did. I will ask questions during our discussion.
I will then end the lesson with a discussion and explaining to students what we will be learning next.
Students will get a chance to practice what they learned when brainstorming the different types of crimes that exist in
The rule of law is treating all persons equally under the law in a society that is not run by any arbitrary power. An example of the rule of law being successfully applied to achieve justice in the
The investigation of crime, society’s reaction to it and approaches to prevent it are all areas that have interested me from my adolescent years. I have an interest and passion for Criminology studies for the strict purpose of wanting to fulfill a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of crime and exploring how crimes affect our society. This shady interest in the criminal world has encouraged me to pursue the subject at degree level and to seriously consider a career in a related field. At the beginning of the course my understanding on crime and criminology was mostly derived from the internet or media. These tools became very useful for me to learn different subjects of crime.

Question 7: Despite the wording of most statutes proscribing the offense of escape, courts increasingly require the prosecution to prove the defendant’s specific intent to avoid lawful confinement. Are courts justified in imposing such a requirement on the statutory law?
Using the story from The Outsiders (read in Reading class), brainstorm all the crimes from the book.
A school assembly will be held at the beginning of the school year where age appropriate coloring books dealing with crime prevention will be passed out. A follow-up awards assembly will be held at the end of the year and certificates handed out to students that complete their coloring book. Crime prevention posters will be displayed at the schools and other public areas such as malls, game stadiums, and city offices. The students will be encouraged to make these posters and will win awards based upon their participation.
Law is a system of rules that are enforced through social institutions to govern behavior. (Robertson, Crimes against humanity, 90).Laws can be made by a collective legislature or by a single legislator, resulting in statutes, by the executive through decrees and regulations, or by judges through binding precedent, normally in common jurisdictions.
The rule of law is whereby the government and all those who govern are bound by the law and everyone must follow the law. Rule of law is also known as nomocracy. Government individual officials are not entitled to make any decision which is not in accordance to the law (Paulsen, Calabresi, McConnell & Bray, 2013). All the citizens are governed by the law including those who make the laws. A. V. Dicey has highly advocated for rule of law in modern times and has popularized it. In history the idea of rule of law can be traced back to the ancient civilizations like China, Mesopotamia, and Rome among others.
