I believe all of the strategies mentioned in the text can help someone during a crisis, but i believe the best coping strategies for a crisis are: friends & relatives, religion, and laughter. I believe that having a support system during any type of crisis helps make the situation that much better. According to David Knox and Caroline Schacht (2013) people are “less affected by the loss of material possessions” during a natural disaster when they know that their family is together (p. 409). 12/28/2017: Crisis Session was conducted in Spanish. Stephanie and her family arrived to NJCC for a crisis session. Stephanie informed this CIS that she was raped by her friend’s boyfriend. Reporting assailant is 19 years old and Stephanie is 15 years old. Stephanie reported guilt from the incident due to leaving her house to hang out with reporting assailant (R.A.). Stephanie informed this CIS that the reporting assailant was consistently calling her and she finally agreed to hang out with him. Stephanie reported that she was raped in his car and now every time she sees his car she begins to feel anxious. The incident took place about 2 weeks ago.

The advocacy service selected for this assignment was REAL Crisis Intervention. During my interview with Real Crisis Intervention I spoke to Jess at the office in Greenville NC and Nadine at the office in Washing NC. The advantages of having a multidisciplinary community team when engaging in crisis intervention are numerous. A multidisciplinary team, as defined in our lecture, should consist of mental health professionals, clergy, peers, and individuals who have experienced losses and trauma themselves. Two main benefits of having this type of diverse crisis intervention team could be: 1) the quality of care that can be provided to those being cared for, and 2) the quantity of care that can be provided.

Some say the root of the word “crisis” means to sift. When going through a crisis, you sift through your possibilities and choose the path that is right for you. There is a period of throwing away what does not belong and you are left with what you really need. Crisis communication is the most important aspect of external and internal organization communication. This type of communication ranges from image restoration campaigns to employee turnover. In the articles that I have analyzed, I discovered many examples of crisis communications and its importance. I will discuss the Bridgestone-Firestone Corporation's image restoration campaign and explain Benoit's theory of image restoration. Also, I will discuss how crisis communications fits into public relations models. Two examples for discussion will be how supervisors should convey bad-news to their employees, and group communication within employee turnover. My last example for this discussion will be Bill Clinton's image repair discourse.
