4. The title Brave New World refers to a poem within the novel. The poem speaks of beautiful things, thus John the Savage says “O brave New World” the first time he sees Lenina because he is mesmerized by her beauty. The last time he says, “O brave New world” he is quoting Miranda from Shakespeare's play, The Tempest. He says it not because he thinks the new world he sees is perfect but because he sees it as ruined; however, he hopes by saying so, the world would one day change. In the beginning, the World State does look perfect and undisturbed, however, as the story goes on, you could see how not so perfect the world is. And John hopes it will one day change.

5. Setting: Central London in the Future
Huxley wrote this novel in the 30s, right after World War I and before World War II. Even though The British society was finally at peace we could still see how the war affected the society. So he decided to write those changes. When the mass productions of cars, telephone and radios were affordable it brought new changes to daily life. With the new tech, things were much faster and there was less privacy between one another. Some were happy with the advances, but some were worried they were losing their familiar and old way of living. The fast-paces yet meaningless way of living in the Brave New world reflect the concerns about the world in the 20’s and 30’s. Huxley decided to create a world where all the public’s concerns have made terrible consequences. For example,
