IN WHAT WAYS IS PERSEPOLIS (BY MARJANE SATRAPI) INTERESTED IN BEING REALISTIC? The book “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi is an autobiographical graphic novel, in which the author illustrates her childhood and early adult years. When the reader takes a first look at the book, he can realize that it tells a real and authentic story from different aspects. Satrapi tells the story of her life in Tehran, the overthrow of the Shah’s regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating effects of the war with Iraq.

In the page number five, the first panel shows the readers how the main protagonist’s mum is going to the street to protest about wearing the veil. After her mum came back home, she noticed that a journalist took a picture of her participating in the strike and then everyone knew her.
