Contextual factors in events management refers to different characteristics that can play into the way that events are conceived, planned or delivered. These characteristics can impact the success or failure of an event and therefore need to be taken in consideration throughout the events planning process. They can be categorised into six main areas including social, environmental, legal, political, physical, technological and organisational. Using The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) as an example, I will identify three of these contextual factors that would need to be considered when conceiving, planning and delivering an event such as the Mardi Gras.
A team is a type of organizational group with independent members. They share common goals and work together to meet these goals (Northouse, 2016). The organization where I work has teams at various levels for maximizing the success. These teams include, core teams, coordinating teams, patient aligned care team (PACT), contingency teams, ancillary teams, support and administration teams (Veterans Health Administration [VHA], 2015). Some of these teams have interdepartmental members while others have intradepartmental staff. Successful teams have a concrete blueprint and that contributes to their effective functioning. There are several factors that affect these teams irrespective of the level. The factors comprise the presence of a clear task, separation from non-team members, authority, and stability. The factors like working conditions, team process and bridging the gaps are concerns for the executive level. The complexity of the task, individual skills and their diverse specializations affect the selection of the team members. The team’s meaningful interactions decide their success. Independent teams can help promote friendly competition within the organization and lead to better staff performance. An efficient leader can design and launch an effective team through careful planning and selection of the right members. He/she keeps the factors that affect the success of the team in mind when designing the teams. The patient care units

It must be understood that it will take time and a cultural change to implement new policies and procedures. Here lies the problem, as this type of plan will take at least two phases to accomplish. The first phase would involve the organization as a whole understanding the changes that are going to take place. The second phase would require leaders to understand and implement the change in the organization. The MSARNG must be willing to train their weekend warriors on the new cultural environment that would ensue after implementing the new plan. It will be hard to accomplish this task along with their other Guard jobs and responsibilities. “Having the correct leadership skills help leaders improve the strength of the group, this in turn will help the group accomplish all of its goals (Huges, Ginnett & Curphy, 2015).” Having the key leaders train, mentor and coach the Soldiers will be the key to ensuring the plan is carried out correctly and does not die before leaving the drawing board.
This essay will explain the ways a staff NCO can anticipate the outcome of current operations to develop concepts for follow-on missions. It is critical in today’s Army that the staff NCO is able to effectively brief his or her commander on potential courses of action for current operations. Before a staff NCO is able to create courses of action against a potential threat, he or she must be able to anticipate the results on the battlefield. To win wars, commanders must be comprehensively informed and make decisions quickly. The commander relies on staff officers and NCOs to assist with the planning and developing of courses of action in regards to making these decisions.

Managers use planning to choose an application of organizational goals, and to ascertain courses of action that provide the most likely scenario of success. Managers participate in an array of planning activities throughout the course of their work, to acquire organizational or departmental goals (Baak, 2014). Business management’s organizational planning stages typically consist of assessing the environment, determining organizational goals, creating plans, and allocating resources (Baak, 2014). In military planning, there are numerous levels of complexity and variety during the planning processes. Typically, military planning will focus on the task, the reason leading to the task, environmental factors, human resource allocation, asset allocation, leadership structure, and timeline. Each of these areas has a
The competitive strategies employed by WFM are in line with the idea that in order for an organization’s strategy to be effective, it must encompass at least one of three crucial areas of differentiation, focus, and cost leadership (Barney & Clark, 2007). A company does not have to employ these three strategies entirely and may focus on employing only one. Or, the company may incorporate certain aspects of each into the overall strategy. Currently, WFM employs on major strategy, and partial aspects of two others, that will be explained in the paragraphs below.

Planning is considered to be a primary function of management. All organisations operate in a complex, dynamic and competitive business environment, and therefore, have to plan their actions without which they may not be able to survive.
As military members we are educated to think very linearly about strategy. For many years we have been trained to have a strategic thought process based on the use of a methodology that espouses three major steps: Ends (Objectives), Ways (Strategic Concepts), and Means (Resources). (Barber 1997)
