Something I am most proud of is my achievement's as Captain of the Cross Country and Track teams. My coach always told me that I am the foundation of the program we have for Murphy High School Cross Country and Track and that I am responsible for keeping it alive. I try to motivate the underclassmen runners to do their best and push forward for the better of the team because they are the future of our program and when I am gone they will be the next leaders. Being a leader to me means so much more than just following my coaches orders. To me, it means that I have an influence on each individual to motivate them and inspire them. All my previous seasons I have learned that the best way to make a great team is to make sure that no matter who
I have had many accomplishments and times of leadership. Some leadership roles I have participated in are: being Deacons Quorum President, Senior Patrol Leader, Band, Cross Country, “Teacher’s PET” in 5th grade, and Basketball. Some achievements I’ve accomplished are: being #1 on the reading hall of fame in 5th grade, had 4 Band concerts, gone to Scout Camp and helped with eagle projects, been to 7 Cross Country meets, and been on 3 Basketball teams.
As apart of the leadership team, I work with everyone to service our school by doing everything from putting on fundraisers to working towards the improvement of the school. We, as a team, also service the Fredericksburg community by volunteering for services like providing dinner for the homeless and roadside cleanings. I also took up the position of leadership when I was named team captain of my high school’s varsity field hockey team my senior year. I had the opportunity, then, to lead my peers into games with a mind of encouragement, and lead the team through the best year of performance since the team was first formed. A good work ethic is another important quality for a student in the program as it shows a willingness to work hard and well on everything the student does.
I was recently elected to be the assistant captain on my Jr. Pioneers Hockey team. As an assistant captain, I lead the team on and off the ice with activities such as off ice training and representing our team. As a leader I strive to prove my myself to be an admirable mentor and example for my peers. An example of this leadership would be that I made sure to set a good example to my teammates and make it to practice even though the weather conditions made it very hard to arrive on time. Being an assistant captain has showed me that I would enjoy being a leader in other areas as
I have demonstrated my leadership in both Student-to-Student and my track and cross-country teams. In eighth grade, I was one of the captains of my track team. I would help lead stretches, warm-ups, and sometimes the workout. I was not a captain my freshman year, but I exhibited leadership skills and influenced my teammates to do their best. Being a new student to RHS, I was not a captain in cross-country either, but, again, I proved my ability to be a leader through my actions and motivating those around me.
I think that if you were to ask my close friends or family, they would say that I am a natural leader and hardworking. As the captain of my lacrosse team, I am a leader on the field. In this position even though I strive to be the best I can, I find it more rewarding to watch my team succeed and improve above myself. I’m very passionate about motivating my team mates to be better and not just bossing them around. You can also find me as a leader of the Student Council at my school. Here I have been in charge of and organized countless events like the CB East’s annual Homecoming. This example also goes to show how hard working I am. I take these school events very seriously and I want every student to have a great time; I stay after school for
In athletics, I was put into a position where I had to learn how to lead. There are many different ways to lead. One way is through example. This is the way of leadership I was used to before I got to high school. I soon learned that I need to become a stronger leader.
I also show leadership in track with one of my relay groups by getting the baton, making sure that everyone has practiced their handoffs, and cheering them on during the race. I also show leadership by being in charge of the recreation center at my church’s vacation bible school and running the technology. I show the service level of National Honor Society by helping at my church’s fair stand, swiss steak supper, and doing various things around the church. I also show the service level because I helped at GLOW with one of my classmates, teaching 5th graders. I show the character level by helping other students around the school with personal problems or class problems that they need help with.
To begin, I exhibit qualities of a great leader. Firstly, at my Saturday morning bowling league, I am positioned as the anchor, which means I am expected to lead my team to victory.. Secondly, I lead by being a good example to my peers, and I am a positive role model. Lastly, when my friends have problems they come to me and I lead them to a positive solution. This is being a good leader.
In life people have a lot of things that they accomplish and are very proud of. As of me I have set so many goals that I am very glad that I have accomplished. Becoming President of Black Student Union a club at my school was a really big accomplishment for me. I never thought that I would have what it takes to be a leader and to have people look up to me. I feel that ever since I was a freshman I looked up to the previous leaders and saw what they did for me to be able to be the person I am now. Lot of people always tell me I carry myself as a leader because I am very mindful of how I do things and react to them. I never thought of myself that way I knew I had the potential but I needed just a little more development. As a leader now I make
One of my goals is to be a leader in a business organization. Being the captain of the swim team sets a concrete foundation of what being a leader is like in a business organization. As the captain I have to make sure everyone is accounted for, keep morale high, talk about issues about an individual on the swim team, and fix said problem. This shows responsibility, character, and sympathy. These are core values that all leaders must have to be successful. Without them, they will
I started out as a student-athlete in which I depicted great leadership skills and positive role model qualities such as diligence, enthusiasm, and passion for the sport. Hence, after my first year of college, I was named the team captain. I worked closely with the coaches, helped to resolve team conflicts, established the tone for practice, and modeled responsibility, decision-making, and a strong work ethic. I also promoted a positive attitude and team interactions, and encouraged and supported all of my teammates. Throughout my experience as team captain, I showed mental toughness by remaining confident and focus, and respond to individual and team mistakes in an appropriate manner.
Leadership Essay As I get further involved with sports and activities the more I have accumulated the knowledge and social skills to lead my fellow peers in a multitude of ways. So the question “What makes you a leader?” is one I can truly answer with clarity and confidence. Approaching my fourth year running varsity Northview Cross-country, I firmly believe in the saying “lead by example”, and that is precisely what I do. Never have I missed a practice that wasn’t unexcused, I always run easydays and workouts with the same effort and intensity as I would a meet.
From an early age, I had the desire to give back to my community. This desire was likely instilled in me by my mother, who as a school teacher, went to great lengths to help her students achieve academically. To better do this, she created at Tupelo Middle School in Mississippi, the Mermaids and Argonauts Program, which allowed students to travel on extended school trips to locations where they were able to have hands-on experiences at zoos, science labs, colleges, museums, and more across the country. As her child, I was able to tag along on many of these trips, which fueled my desire to learn about and interact with my environment. It left me with the great hope that someday I would be able to have such experiences abroad, in order to better learn about the people and cultures with which I interact. For this reason, I hope to study abroad this summer in Pachuca, Mexico.
Being a leader on a sports team meant that I had to be physically and mentally strong in situations where others might be weak. Physically, I had to be an example on my team by never quitting and never giving up when things were tough. That way when my teammates seen me pushing through physically adverse situations they have someone to follow
A strong example of my leadership experience is my senior season of football. Following the 2016-2017 academic year, our head coach resigned on short notice and lacked any coach to fill the position. Because he left on such short notice, we didn’t have a coach for the first two weeks of the preseason, a crucial developing point in the season. However, a small group of other seniors and I were able to schedule workouts until we got a new coach. This established our group as team leaders and allowed us to lead the team to success in the regular season. I was later named a team captain for my leadership on and off the field. This gave me the ability further lead by example as well as keep the team’s morale up in the face of adversity. I ran extra
