Thirdly, I choose to write about her because the day she died on is my birthday. When I began my research about Celia Cruz the number of awards, Grammys, and titles she earned amazed me. The more I continued to learn, I learned she was a hard worker and never gave up her dreams. If I were endeavoring to become a well-known celebrity she would be my role model. Not only did was she successful in her dreams, but she also pursued her Father’s.

I can only imagine what immigrating to america is like for these families, everyday children my age and younger are risking their lives to come to America and It really makes me appreciate how much I have. For Lourdes, Enrique, and Maria Isabel in Enrique’s Journey they must make the hard decision of leaving everything they grew up with in Honduras to come to america for a better life. Lourdes, Enrique’s mother, could no longer afford to feed and send her children to school and was struggling to make money with her job. “Lordes can think of only one place that offers hope… Lourdes has decided: She will leave. She will go to the United States, and make money and send it home.” (p.20) Lourdes decides to make the trip because it
ChildhoodBorn on May 10, 1990 in Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela, Perez was brought up single-handedly by his mother, Yilda Diaz, since his father had abandoned them. Mother and son later re-located to Valencia to live with Perez’s maternal grandmother. What started off as just a way to keep him occupied, became his career. Perez was put in a baseball school at the tender age of six. Perez’s talent was recognised while he was still a student. At just 16 years of age, the “Royals” selected him and offered him a sum of $65,000. In the year 2007, he was put in the Arizona Rookie league, which marked the beginning of his career in the minor league.Heightsangels

Although many in her predominately Catholic community looked down on her for being a single mother, she strove to abide by the values that eventually drove Freddy to enlist in the United States Marine Corps: a sense of hard work, devotion to duty, and love of country. Sergeant Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Hue City- for his valiant defense of his men and his drive to achieve the objective. He was the only Marine in the Tet Offensive combat to receive such an honor.
I picked Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz because she enjoyed writing and so do I. I don’t like to write plays, like her, but I like to write about other things. She was a women’s right activist and wrote a play called “Hombres Necios” (“Foolish Men”). It was about men behaving rudely against women. I’m no women’s right activist, but I do believe we all should be equal in every aspect. We women should have the right to get an education and get the same wages as men in all jobs. As she famously said, “One can perfectly well philosophize while cooking supper,”

Life for most Mexican farmers is not easy. About 15 percent of the land in Mexico is suitable for farming. The rest is too dry, rocky, or mountainous. A lot of the best land is held by a small number of wealthy owners. Faced with rural decline, many farmers choose to migrate to the city. There they hope to find jobs that will pay them a decent wage and give their families a higher standard of living. They also hope their children will have an opportunity to get a good education in city schools.
The prehistoric intercom dazed the students as the voice stated, “Can I have Cristian Martinez come to the office to go home?” Mrs. Cardwin responded with a tiring, “Yes.” With my heavy backpack at hand, I walked up to her desk with a smile in my face. I finally had the chance to go home early and not have to endure another day of tedious assignments. She looked at me and I said, “Where is your planner?” I rummaged through my backpack to see if I had my planner. Suddenly I had an after thought. “D’oh! I forgot my planner in my second hour.” I asked her if she can fill out a pass for me. She pulled out her pen and Post-it notes and wrote, “Christian Martinez to Office”. Once I saw the H, my immediate reaction was, “My name doesn’t have an H in it Mrs. Cardwin.” During the school year, teachers have the tendency of adding an H to my name. If I had a nickle for everytime someone misspelled my name, I would be able to buy an Iphone 7. When I see the letter H in my name, it makes me cringe. But this H goes beyond from my first name.

Nicky Cruz (full name San Nicholas de le Cruz, meaning Saint Nicholas of the holy cross) was born on the 6th of december, 1938, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the 8th of 18 children. Nicky 's parents both practiced witchcraft, or espiritismo, and had a huge reputation and were greatly respected. Nicky was the black sheep of the family. He was severely abused physically, mentally and verbally by his parents, particularly his mother, who often told him she hated him and cursed by calling him things like the son of satan and that he had the mark of the beast on his heart. Whenever his mother was angry at his other siblings, he would be the one whipped. As a result of this treatment he became resentful, angry, sneaky and mean. Nicky was always in serious trouble. He never cried for the most of his childhood, his heart had hardened to stone. Him and his mother became enemies and he swore he would one day kill her, though he was desperate for affection. He learnt to be cautious of her. He grew up a very angry and deeply hurting boy, and would have blamed the way people treated him on his mother. He would often run away from home, by the age of 9, for weeks at a time. Nicky used to steal his mothers money, out of
