There were many cultural diffrences within this case that had a significant impact on the outcome of the family. One cultural difference that had a significant role in this case would be the language barrier. Mr. and Mrs. Krasniqi Sam and Kathy are both from Kosovo wich is a region in Albania. Mr. Krasniqi moved to Chicago in 1963 when he was 30 years old. In 1979 Mr. Krasniqi went back to Albania to marry his wife Kathy. They both later moved that year back to Chicago. The only language spoken in the Krasniqi household was Albanian. According to the Dallas Observer report Mr. and Mrs. Krasniqi grasp of the English language was very poor, and was limited to what they needed to run their pizza parlors(dalla). When later questioned Mr. Krasniqi

The Hardaga family are all Holocaust heroes because they kept a Jewish family hidden even though the Hardaga family were Muslims. Some heroes are honored and remembered for a long time, some heroes are recognized for doing great things, but most are forgotten by all but a few who actually care about them. When was the last time you heard someone say the name Maximilian Kolbe, or Albert Goering? There were many people who were heroes but were forgotten. Those who are remembered are usually already famous for something else as well. The Hardaga family will be remembered for what they did in the field, and this is their story.

Omari was raised in a culturally competent household, as a result of this, it has enabled him to experience multiple cultures his entire life. This is unique, because not many children are able to say they were raised in a household that was African American and Asian with the religious faiths of both Christianity and Muslim existing under the same roof. While the United States is becoming itself more culturally competent, it is uncertain how many families raise their children with this same understanding (Yan & Wong, 2005, pp. 181-188). Omari was able to learn in this environment and was given the opportunity to make decisions that benefited him, while still maintaining the support of his parents.
For my module 1 case, I am tasked to review the case of Lanesha Johnsons and answer the following questions; from a cultural perspective, is it unusual that Grandmother Marietta is the primary caregiver? Discuss the ways in which Lanesha, Grandma Marietta, and Hannah Healthcare approach this situation from totally different perspectives. How does Lanesha 's temperament affect the situation? What responsibilities do health care providers have in this situation? The case regarding Lanesha Johnson is both frustrating and eye opening, because it seems that the resolution to this case is so easy, but when you look at it through the lens of cultural barriers, the situation because much more murky. Let’s address the first barrier, Marietta as the primary caregiver.
Further, the Hmong families are divided by which clans and subgroups they are a part of. There are 19 clans identified within the Hmong culture (Kou 2012). It has been said “The clan acquires its membership through a patrilineal system, identifiable by the male’s last name and therefore, lineage” (Tatman 2004). The clans acquire their names based on the relationship to the father. For example, “Marriage by two individuals within the same clan is not allowed, despite genealogical distance between members” (Tatman 2004). The men are typically the individuals to leave their clan and find a wife suitable for them because in the article it explained, “Under the clan system, wives, and subsequent children, become members of the husband’s clan, and total loyalty to this new clan is expected” (Tatman 2004).
The family pattern of the Nguyen’s is a strange combination of both enmeshed and disengaged patterns of communication and relationships. For one, each member of the family is well aware that the school expelled the middle son, Gary. They also later become aware that he is in the possession of a gun. However, although they are aware of these issues, no one knows the reasons behind them. Tringh exemplifies this pattern when she cries to her mother, “I don’t even know what’s happening with my own children.” Furthermore, while the family is willing to talk to Jimmy, his life with his girlfriend remains a complete secret. Ultimately, the family seems quite aware that there are some serious issues within the structure of their
The Purnell Domains of Culture assessment gives a vast amount of information in regards to a persons cultural background, family and heritage that gives care provides a better understanding of their client or clients family. As a future care provider, I took the time to speak to Mrs. Smith about herself and family to gain insight on whom they are as a family and what influences them to be who they are today. Over the course of the domains of culture I have been able to increase my perception of who and what drives this family and how their beliefs came about.
Racism is the hatred or intolerance to another race. This usually involves one party believing they are superior to the other and have the right to rule. Maycomb County, Alabama is a town that demonstrates separate is surely not equal. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee suggests the evident role race plays in the town.
Angela’s parents divorced when she was a little kid. After divorcing, Angela’s mom decided to move to the United States. She filed her papers for residency and waited for a response. In 1999, her papers
He or she must help the family and its individual members cope with the changes of immigration so as to survive and do well in an alien culture - the American culture. The worldviews, practices and demands of their ethnic culture could very well be in conflict and in tension with that of mainstream American beliefs. Stereotypes since 9-11 of Afghan and Muslim families is largely on the negative and many are viewed with suspicion. But such suspicion is shared on both sides, and without communication and the motivation to drive the barriers away for a sense of relativism - can only lead to conflict. The caseworker has to understand the issues that the family and the members face but must also see the other side - the reason behind the tension and the suspicion of the community vis-a-vis the family. Doing so, the counselor finds ways of bridging the gaps so as to promote in all sides a sense of security. Both sides are ignorant of each other's concerns of security, safety and cultural awareness. By pushing for communication and by introducing the family to the members of the community and social agencies that can help them adapt, the counselor has provided the family with the assistance necessary to give them that confidence and social boost so as to gain their footing in their new home. Although not all individual share the same beliefs, as a professional personal beliefs must be
There is a type of arrogance the Chinese had which helped to create stress and conflict with non-Chinese regions. We see this type of relationship with the Mongols and in some respect to the Mongols fighting for and leading the Chinese. It was the Ming cultural insensitivity that instigated the mutiny but also prevailed. A comparison may be drawn between the Indians of North America and their relationship with the United States and China’s relationship with the Mongols. The American government was known to violate agreements with the Indians, and this same issue is seen with China’s violating agreements made with Altan Khan. Dang Xin’s actions towards Pubei could be seen not as one of jealously but of ethnic dislike or hatred. Even though Kenneth Swope believes the Mongolian reaction was directed toward maladministration more so than ethnic hatred, I would contend that the ethnic hatred is more likely from the Chinese side of the root cause. Swope sees a contradiction in the idea of an ethnic issue and even provides the example of Chinese officers adopting the looks and mannerisms of Mongols, this alone does not prove there was no ethnic issue. To reach into the American issue with race, we see a similar attitude where the black population is at time copied by the white population, including those who are considered to harbor racist thoughts. This is found in the music, arts, and even black culture.
Italian American and Greek American parents are devoted to raising their children, and caring to them well into their adult years. While the Irish American culture allows their children to move out, prepared or not, the Italian American and Greek American cultures would not do this willingly. The Italian American and Greek American cultures believe that they will not have as much an impact or closeness, and their children could venture into trouble if not advised everyday of their lives. With that being said, Italian American and Greek American children often live in their parent’s homes well into their adult years. What might be surprising to other cultures, especially the Irish American culture, is that even newly married couples are welcomed to live in their in-laws home until they find, or until they can afford, their own home. The Italian American and Greek American cultures are even big on assisting their relatives in finding employment, and this ties into the importance of family businesses, where they will hire and keep their success
