When I think of culture, I think of what activities people normally do, things they wear, and even the food they eat. I grew up as a military brat, meaning I grew up in a military family. I traveled a lot and I have got to see all types of cultures, and I like them all for different reasons. I was born in Germany, and I love their culture because they are happy with who they are, they have really cool traditions, and I love their food. In Germany, if a person saw a 12 year old drinking alcohol, it is perfectly normal, whereas in our culture, it is wrong if a person saw that happening. Why is that? Well for starters, their country is more developed because they understand how to keep their citizens safe. While I was there, when children had to go to school, someone could see a 5 year old walking to school by themselves. People do not think if their child is going to get kidnapped or killed while they are by themselves. In the U.S., we obviously have a lot of problems with those kinds of things. Here, if a 5 year old is by themselves on the streets, it is called neglect. When I think of culture, I think of what activities people normally do, things they wear, and even the food they eat. There’s various things that describes everyone, but there’s only a few things that make each and every one of us unique, which is, our cultural background. As far as cultural background, it defines the individual’s upbringing. The cultural background includes ones religion, race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic factors, linguistic and values. We all see the events and objects surrounding us in a cultural lens in which tints, alters, and shapes our perceptions. In a broader aspect, culture shapes how people experience their world. Though a culture is generally understood and thought of as the foods, clothing, holidays, and music a group of people engage in, culture dives deeper than just a group’s visible traditions.
Many people have different views on culture and what it includes. I think culture is a mix of many things that become a norm for a group of people over a long period of time. I think that culture is a mix of music, food, traditions, and relationships. Cultures also bring together a group of people who hold the same values and beliefs, an example of this would be any religion. Culture affects all areas of a person’s life as it affects the way they view people, make relationships, make decisions and in general how they live their life. While most cultures have existed for many years, they are not static. Many traditions are held to but there are still changes as more generations are joining and the older ones are passing away.
After this, the students talked to each other and they decided that they enjoy it when the teacher reads to them. The teacher read the book and the students followed along with the reading. When the teacher finished reading, she asked various questions that the students had to answer. The students, had to discuss the question and the answer with their group members. Completing the personal cultural survey I was able to identify the way I approach my life through my eyes. Since completing this survey I have seen my worldview through my lens and the way I approach people, and my way of life. Furthermore, I have identified that my numbers were very similar to one another, and that my average score was (4). Thinking upon this I was pondering why my average score was a (4) for everything. Maybe I grade myself too harshly or become too analytical with this test because I am a very detailed person.
Great post. Reading your post on the multiracial culture made me reflect on the multiracial individuals in family. It does appear that there is an increased acceptance of multiracial individuals. However, when it comes to adoptions of multiracial children or trans adoptions the issues I would imagine run a bit deeper and possibly more complex. The couple or individual adopting a multiracial child or transadoption is truly a beaufil spirted individual. Not only will they deal with the stares, questions, stigma and in some cases, being ostersied by the family, the child will most likely have questions and issues. There are a number of ways parents can help to culturally educated their bi-racial or transadopted child by introducing their culture

In this paper the author will examine and assess the culture concerns and influences in today’s society along with the mixed culture as it directly relates to the effect it has on the criminal justice system. Every Culture has his own rules, characteristics, and has its different aspects. We have to learn how to adapt to those cultures every time we are facing them or we are in an environment that has a culture that is different from ours. We are living in a world where culture has become very important to know and try to adapt to. This paper will focus on analyzing the similarity and differences values, ethic and cultures of two different countries such as Burkina Faso and the US. As we all know, American cultures is an open minded, wide, and free country. Hofstede helps us have a better understanding of how multiples countries have a totally separate dimension. As for an example, Americans are known for their high individualism while Burkina Faso has a low individualism. As much as
The culture thinkers state ideas similar to each other with reasoning towards freedom, individuality, and women's rights. The enlightenment took place in the 17th and 18th centuries that was all about individualism. The culture thinkers main idea is to have freedom and make correct decisions in life. Mary Wollstonecraft, John Locke, Adam Smith, and Voltaire are similar to each other by having the opinion of people to have the rights of freedom of choice.
Diversity and multiculturalism have become an integration in today’s society. There has been constant change in the professional world from people of a diverse culture. “The changing demographics and economics of our growing multicultural world and the long-standing disparities in the health status of people from culturally diverse backgrounds have challenged health care providers and organizations to consider cultural diversity as a priority” (OJIN, 2003). In the field of public health and health education, it is imperative to understand cultural diversity and accept people for who they are. Sometimes we have to put our feelings and sensitivity aside and step outside of our boundaries to realize that change is constant. It’s also important
Relatedness is the socially recognized ties that connect people in a variety of different ways. It attempts to understand and record the ways in which people in specific ethnographic contexts articulate and engage in the relationships that are important to them in everyday life. Relatedness can take many forms such as friendship, marriage, parenthood, shared links to a common ancestor, workplace association, just to name a few. These forms can be shared via many different means as well. They can be shared physically by a body substance such as blood, semen, genes, or mother’s milk. It can be through spiritual means such as soul, spirit, nurturance, or love. You can also have cases where more than one substance is shared.
For my second culture immersion project I went to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I went with my group members Ryan, Brian and Brian's girlfriend. I went this pass Tuesday after we had our group meeting. I don’t recall the name of the restaurant but I know it was downtown Appleton near by the Walgreens. . This was good choice for the project because I never have eaten at an actually Mexican restaurant before.
