The rush and bombardment of anticipation and the urge to rebirth and strengthen the colorful culture of the Philippines. Work, work. Please and appeal. Sit still and look pretty for me please. The fear of inaccuracy and miscalculation because disappointment and distaste does not fit the exquisite and alluring faces of my parents. This overwhelming entity should not be the catalyst to my desires, my parent’s expectations, and the world’s binding decree, but it was obligatory, unavoidable, to formulate and forge the almost perfect “me” that everyone wants to visualize and observe. The stereotype of Asian parents has never been so livid and legitimate as it is today. An old generation dies, but a new one arises with much more ferocity and clout than the last. Yes, it's undeniable that all people of all colors have their horrendous and strict confinements in their culture that are quite similar, but the difference is the impact and effectiveness of the rules that differentiate the cultures. If discipline, chastisement and efforts fail to forge the ‘almost perfect image,’ you are looked at as a disgrace and soon following, the corruption of your family's image. The hustle of my parents led to I, the only girl, taking up the position as the ‘second mother’ at the tender age of six. It wasn't a choice, it was expected for the girl to take the position, regardless if she's the youngest or oldest in the family. Cleaning, cooking, folding, babysitting, I was a one-for-all
