Current Ethical Issues Paper Heidi L. Hinckley XMGT/216 December 16, 2012 Dan Mitchell In creating this paper I have decided to use the Kudler Fine Foods organization, due to the fact that I enjoy trying new flavors from around the world. Kudler Find Foods is “a local upscale specialty food store” (Kudler website) located in California. Kudler Fine Foods currently has three locations in the state of California. There focus is to bring the finest foods and finest team members they can to their potential customers. They offer a wine steward at each location, as well as monthly classes for customers to lean about various wines in the store. Kudler Fine Foods wants to promote the best in food and service. I understand that she is trying to create an atmosphere, but in that statement it would seem that she only want to work with certain kinds of customers. This could lead some consumers to think that they are not welcome in her stores. . Kathy Kudler has a moral and ethical obligation as a business owner to promote an atmosphere that is open and welcoming to all. There is also the questionable promotion on Kudler Fine Foods website on how they only hire the best employees. Although I personally understand the statement, it can be considered unethical in the terminology. There is an insinuation that in that way that terminology is presented. There should be a change there in that all Kudler Fine Foods employees are trained to assist customers with any questions they may have on the products that are available in the store. There is also an ethical issue in the description of the stores themselves. The website promotes the locations as “8,000 square feet of retail space in a fashionable shopping center” (Kudler Fine Foods). Again the terminology in that statement may be perceived as condescending as if certain individuals would not be welcomed within the locations. With a store like this it is important that if you are promoting the flavors of the world they you would also represent the people of those regions. A diverse workforce that is familiar with these ingredients and foods would also show that the owner take a
On the other hand although their similarities are close knit; they each have a distinct difference depending on the individual. For instance, recently the complex next door caught fire due to bad wiring. The company put all the tenants up for the weekend because they believed that this is what they ought to do. After the weekend the tenants were told that the situation had been turned over to their insurance company and it was out of their hands. The tenants believe that the company should hold their self-responsible and accommodate them much more.
Is pleasing the customers, and telling them what they might want to hear, more important than being honest with them? When clients ask the company for reports, their main interest should be to get a thorough and comprehensive analysis. If they were only looking for a confirmation of what they wanted to hear, they should not need the research.
Kudler Fine Foods offers delicacy food s to its customers. Kudler treats its foods with love and care. These delicacies give customers excellent meat, bread, seafood, and wine. Morality are a set of principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. Morality guides an individuals day to day decisions and behaviors. Our internal moral compass dictates our behavior, and our decisions on what is 'right or wrong'. The statement " Do not lie!" reflects absolutism, an exception for moral rule. Absolutist believe in absolute principles in all ethical matters, giving a clear guideline of behavior.
One of the goals of education is to apply skills learnt in classroom to real world through one's critical thinking. However, there must be ethical code and guidelines to help resolve ethical concerns. This requires a deep knowledge of ethical decision making steps. These steps come from the ethical commitment to reach an effective ethical decision making (Fisher, 2013). The following is a synopsis of three cases selected for applying ethical decision making steps.
I believe the ethical response that most applies to male’s lack of motivation in school is the scream. The scream is anything in our society that is personally alarming and causes you to take action because of your integrity as a human being. It relates to problems in the world that cause you to question the values and ethics of society. The scream doesn’t have to be a directed at you deliberately, it can be numerous events in society that impact you morally hence making want to scream. An example of this ethical response in the real world is the use of cellular devices while driving. The most recent statistics in the United States show that there are three-hundred and thirty thousand injuries and four thousand deaths each year as a result
The ethical dilemma that I intend to analyze in this paper is, whether the right to free speech and expression which fall under the broader head of individual rights should be absolute or should there be censorship over the rights for the overall harmony/good of the society? My task here is to lay out the ethical theories under which the above stated issue can be evaluated. The three main types of moral codes are Egoism, Altruism and Cynical Exploitation. This discussion will regard the egoist theory, altruism theory and cynical exploitation in evaluating the dilemma.
In the world today, when there is an unanswered question, I go to the internet and ask Google for the answer. Sometimes, the answer is sufficiently placed atop the resulting query and, sometimes I need to rephrase my question but, sometimes, I find search engines feeding me information filled with deceit and buffoonery. So how exactly is the information scooped by the spoonful from the immense bowl of data bits and displayed before me? I expect that when I throw a rock toward a star, the whole sky falls with information relative to my casting focus. Instead, I am served
Some problems that identify within the food business are that the owner scarcely interacts with the customers. Interaction with the customers is an important feature that gives the owner to know the clients. If Kathy Kudler is not getting involve with the clients how it she going to know what ingredients,
The market offers a large variety of high quality products, and it helps improve the economy of the city and brings the community together to improve itself. Apart from expanding, which has proven to be slightly difficult, the next step would be toin increase the diversity of cultures that are there. The Italian Molina Family Baker is epitomizes’ the kind of diversity that would help it appeal to a lot of international college students and residents. Also, being open more often for longer periods of time will help it battle the threat of the big
In this week’s discussion we are asked to analyze, form an opinion, and explain the actions we would take on two different ethical dilemmas.
They are in a small shopping center in an awkward place in Friendswood. It was complicated to enter being that they are right next to a traffic light which forces you to go immediately into the turning lane upon the light turning green. Although they did get a corner location, which makes the store look better, it is still a very small place with very limited parking. I can imagine how difficult it could be if they were ever very busy with no parking spaces and more people entering through the awkward entrances. The location is also very in the middle of nothing, you would have to be explicitly going here to see it. Another problem they have is that they sell out of a lot of their flavors very early. I came and got the last of the CCC and R&SV. It was pretty early in the day and they were already running out of flavors, this could cause a problem for them because people would not be satisfied, they could settle, because all the flavors must be good, or they could simply leave. They also didn't have music playing, I prefer it when there is light music playing in the background while I eat, it was very quieter while we ate and while my mom and I filled the void with our talking, it was still missing; something. I believe that as they grow bigger they can solve these
The MD Anderson Cancer Center is an organization prided on providing its patients and their families with the best care they can give. The organization’s culture and ethical decision-making is on the safety of the patient and how the organization can reduce the suffering of his or her patients. The store is located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the west portion of Wisconsin. Specifically, the county Eau Claire has a recorded population of 98,736. There are a few smaller Asian grocery stores located in Eau Claire but Asian Marketplace is the largest Asian store there and we provide more diverse Asian products than our competitors and also accept customers’ requests other Asian food products we don’t have on hand. Most of our customers would be of Asian race, so if you divide the population of Eau Claire by race; Whites make up 93%, Asians make up 3%, Hispanics or Latino make up 1%, mixed 1%, Black or African American makes up 1%, other race makes up less than 1% and American Indian makes up less than 1% (“Current Eau Claire County”, n.d.). There are other surrounding cities that could bring in potential customers to the store as well. There are no other larger Asian groceries stores are located near Eau Claire, WI. The closest ones are in Minnesota, where many or most of our customers use to drive for over an hour to make their purchase. Being the first to open a large grocery store with diverse Asian groceries would be beneficial in bringing in customers and making it more convenient for those who don’t want to drive over an hour or Asian groceries that can’t be found right in the city.
