Cursive writing hasn’t been taught in schools for a while and will result in increased difficulties for students now and in the future. There are many things that involve cursive writing such as writing signatures or reading old documents. I think cursive writing should be taught because cursive inspires creativity, can be used as a tool, and develops motor skills for our brains. In my opinion, because cursive has many benefits, this form of writing should be taught in schools today.

To begin with, cursive writing inspires creativity. Now, most of the time people are using computers to finish assignments or take notes instead of writing them down. Instead of having to type notes and answers to assignments, being able to write things down forces you to formulate your thought and to slow down so you don’t make as many mistakes. You process the information visually, you write the information on paper, and you record the notes in your memory. This helps retain learning and develop new ideas. Studies have shown improved scores on reading and spelling for students who learn cursive as connected letters instead of parts. Cursive writing can also be used as a tool for students who have learning difficulties such as Dyslexia.

In conclusion cursive writing should be taught in schools. In my opinion, cursive writing should be taught in schools today because of the positive impact on learning. As you can see, cursive writing inspires creativity, can be used as a tool, and develops fine motor skills. Therefore, if we want our next generation of leaders to develop creativity, if we want them to recognize and understand important historical documents, and if we want them to maximize learning and the ability to retain knowledge, we must teach cursive writing in our
