On November 6th, CVS Health announced that it would begin offering next-day delivery of prescription drugs and even same-day delivery for some of the big cities next year. The major cities include Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C, and San Francisco. As for the next day delivery service, it will be soon available for local stores for the rest of the country. The delivery fees have not been set yet, but it is assured that it will be at a very reasonable price for CVS pharmacy customers. By offering this service, it can help with the goal of meeting the customers’ needs when they need the medication relatively soon and at the comforts of their own home. Having CVS Health announce that they will begin offering next-day delivery and same day delivery services for their customers seems like a very good idea for the customers. However when you look at the technicalities that pharmacies have to do to make it happen is a lot more complicated than it seems. On top of pharmacists and technicians processing and filling the prescriptions for patients that still come in to the store to drop off or pick, they have to also prioritize the prescriptions that would need to be delivered by a certain time. Not only that, there could be complications with technology that could occur such as the prescription not being received or sent, or a possibility that the delivery order gets lost in transit or delivered to the wrong person. I feel like it’s a good idea that needs to be further developed to ensure that no errors can occur with the new service. For example, to make sure that the person is there to pick up the delivery order and have it be signed to ensure that the person has received his or her medication
A teenage girl drove into a Walgreen's parking lot and went into Walgreen's. She casually shopped in the store like a teenager would and once she was done shopping she checked out at the register. When she received her bags she exited Walgreen's and walked across the parking lot to her car and once she went to get into her car a person came up behind her and put her in the car and the criminal drove off with her and her car. Law enforcement used the surveillance that Walgreen's had. The surveillance showed that when the teenage girl drove into Walgreen's parking lot that a blue F-150 pulled in behind her and parked in the parking lot. Additionally, it showed the man casually walking into Walgreen's and once the teenage girl walked into Walgreen's
Two days after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, the Walgreen's store at the corner of Royal and Iberville streets remained locked. The dairy display case was clearly visible through the widows. It was now 48 hours without electricity, running water, plumbing. The milk, yogurt, and cheeses were beginning to spoil in the 90-degree heat. The owners and managers had locked up the food, water, pampers, and prescriptions and fled the City.Outside Walgreen's windows, residents and tourists grew increasingly thirsty and hungry. The much-promised federal, state and local aid never materialized and the windows at Walgreen's gave way to the looters. There was an alternative. The cops could have broken one small window and distributed the nuts, fruit

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, there are a few things that says Brooklyn. Heading to the park for a game of basketball with the kids in the summer, running through the sprinklers at the park, visiting the Brooklyn's Children Museum and even going for a ride on the Cyclone at Coney Island. However, when it comes to getting the necessities we need when we're not feeling well, one pharmacy has always stood out and that's been CVS. There seemed to be a CVS pharmacy within walking distance of wherever you are, which made me believe that their acronym truly did stand for Convenience, Value & Service. We however moved to the beautiful state of Colorado four years ago and the one thing that stood out to me here was that there was NO CVS to be found, so I was pretty excited when I got the news that CVS was finally making it's way to the Western US and Colorado was included on

The issues in the article entitled “Benefits of Unit Dose Packaging” by Kate DeMutis discusses the problems that arise in regards to compliance of patient’s using medications and wound care supplies as ordered by their healthcare providers. It appears that with the “growing number of prescriptions in the United States it can be concluded that incorrect use of the medications or wound care supplies is impacting ones recovery in a timely fashion,” (DeMutis, 2015) and perhaps unit dosing may be the solution.
CVS Health happens to be one of the largest pharmacies serving people in every community. In fact, there is a CVS across the street from just about every hospital, on every major interception, and are within a 2-mile radius of one another. This is the way it has been since the company was founded “in Lowell, Massachusetts by brothers Stanley and Sidney Goldstein and partner Ralph Hoagland” in 1963, and it’s the way the company plans to keep expanding the company in a proximity to one another. They have even gone as far as expanding the size of the store to fit the community. All in an effort, to be responsive and committed enough to meet the needs of not only the customers, but the clients and the community as well (CVS Health, 1999-2016). Especially, since the company admits that over the past fifty years, they have changed to better service people in their health.
Following data entry is the production or fulfillment step. This is the step where pharmacists actually fill the prescriptions. The major problem encountered in this step is not having sufficient inventory to fill a prescription. This can be frustrating for the pharmacist and the customer. A possible solution to this problem is to fill the prescription in part; enough to get the customer started on their medication, and then when new shipment arrives fill the remaining portion of the prescription. This would require an entry to the customer’s record so that employees know the prescription was only partially filled. Also in order to implement this process, we would need our suppliers to expedite shipping of our restock orders. As a market leader, CVS should have no problem in getting its suppliers to work with them.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep the medication information up to date especially when distributed by the
Thanks for your post Kimberlee. Walgreen, CVS and some other retails stores are very helpful to so many people especially the low income group. These people do not benefit from the flu shot and medication refill alone, those with no good insurance but on blood presure medication or some diabetic patients find it more comfortable to have their blood presure and blood sugar checked at these
Consumer Value Store (CVS) opened in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1963. The company was one of America’s largest retail drugstores and had 4,000 stores and revenue of $24.2 billion by 2002. Generally, a company that serves pharmacy service must emphasize customer’s satisfaction, customer’s safety, and process efficiency. The purpose of CVS is to satisfy consumer’s needs, guarantee the accuracy of filling prescription and the health of customers, and improve the existing pharmacy fulfillment process.
The pharmacist is known as the drug dealer as it is a health profession that helps patients to optimize the uses of medication. As a profession, there are ethics that ought to be practise by pharmacists. However, do they really practise it in reality?
Retail super-giant Wal-Mart has fought its way to becoming the world's largest company. Wal-Mart’s legendary supply chain technology has allowed them to break the three-day barrier that some economists in the eighties felt that it was unbreakable. In other words, Wal-Mart is often able to replenish items on the Wal-Mart shelf in less than three days – not from the central warehouse to the shelf, but from the manufacturer to the shelf. With quick and reliable 2-day turn around, Wal-Mart is able to maintain lower levels of inventory and still meet customer demand. These lower inventory levels result in either a reduced floor plan with lower carrying costs and lower interest expense – or a greater diversity of products on the store shelves.
