The increased use of technology by teens in high schools has caused an increase in cyber bullying and suicide. A study by The Oregonian shows that 12 out of 17 teens have phones which means nearly 80 percent have the capability and access to platforms to bully other people (Hammond). Bullying is something that everyone knows when they see it. Many people have witnessed cyberbullying first hand or have witnessed or heard of it. Bullying is intended to hurt, harm, or disturb the victim. They way cyberbullying can happen is because of an imbalance of power, a person with lots power can normally send harm to someone with little power (Hogan). People don’t just bully for no reason. Most of the time it is because of issues happening within the bully’s personal life. The person could be a bully because of lack of attention from their parents at home, their parents could have had a divorce, or they could be jealous of something that another person has so they take it out of them (Why do kids Bully?). Bullying is intentional and is meant to hurt, harm, or humiliate someone else. People who bully have more power than someone, that being either physical or socially, while the people they target have problems in stopping the bullying. Bullying is an on-going repeated behavior (How is). Bullying is not just in person but is also over the internet. Studies show that close to 43% of kids have been bullied online and that 1 out of 4 of them has happened more than once. With
