Understanding bullying
Children, teens and even adults are bullied all over the world.Although bullying can become an illegal act, people are bullied because of skin color, disabilities, appearance, social status,financial differences, beliefs, physical abilities and so much more. Bullying is oppression, bullying is making others feel worse about themselves, it's making others feel little and magnifying one's insecurities or forcing someone to do something they don't want to do. Bullying can be physical, verbal, relational or even on social media, bullying over social media or technology is called cyberbullying.
Cyber Bullying
Cyber bullying is the most common direct form of bullying. Bullies find the internet a easier way to be mean and hurtful because they are protected behind a screen. Cyber bullies make people face threats, taunts, and insults. Cyber bullies can post, send and share negative content about someone. This is a serious issue because people can put out private or personal information about someone and expose then to various strangers.
The internet is very public and permanent, once someone posts something it can be taken down but people can still spread what was once put out. Cyberbullying often becomes unlawful or criminal behavior.

Verbal bullying itself can have many forms such as name calling, and insults. Verbal bullies usually talk about one's appearance,race, skills, or anything else like so is bullying. Psychological bullying is another very common form of verbal bullying except for the fact that this bullying is not directly to the victim. This form of bullying is when the bully or bullies spread rumors and make false accusations about someone behind their backs to hurt their reputation or social status. There are many different forms of bullying, such as physically bulling someone is when someone is hit, punched, pushed, or have their personal items stolen and any other kind of physical aggressive behaviour. Verbal bullying is when someone is called names, threatened. Social bullying is when someone is left out, deliberately ignored and has bad things spread about them and made to feel like an outsider, Psychological bullying is when someone is stalked or intimidated.
Bullying has been going on for heavens know how long and unfortunately still goes on today. Another type of bullying is verbal which is making fun of someone by using words to bring that person down. It is calling someone names to make them feel inferior and sadly goes on a lot in the school environment.
Bullying is said to occur when a child is the target of any behaviour that is (1) harmful or done with intent to harm; (2) repeated or occurs over time; and (3) characterized by an imbalance of power, such that the victim does not feel that he or she can stop the interaction (Raskaukas et al. 2010). Bullying is also defined as using superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something (oxforddictionaries.com). Bullying has many characteristics but usually comes in the form of verbal abuse, physical aggression or relational victimization. The first two forms of bullying have sometimes been called “direct bullying” as they include directly aggressive behaviour. Relational victimization is the manipulation of peer relationships in order to exclude someone (Rothon et al. 579-588). There are other forms of bullying such as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is one of the easiest ways to bully someone. Most cyber bullies know their victims in person. On the fact sheet “What is Cyberbullying?” it says that 84% of bullies know their victim in real life. A major problem with cyberbullies is that they are posting embarrassing pictures, threatening comments, and rude statements about one that cannot be completely deleted off of the
Cyber bullying, defined as repeated harassment or threats online. Now, people can harass and antagonize anyone with a computer or phone with no repercussions. This should be changed because cyberbullying can happen anywhere, anyone can cyber bully, and the problems caused by cyberbullying. A possible counter-claim to prosecuting cyberbullies is that it is a waste of court time and taxpayer dollars.
Cyberbullying is bullying through electronic means such as personal websites, blogs, texting, and social media are just a few places you can find cyberbullying (Cyberbullying, 2006). Cyberbullying is a fast growing trend that experts believe to be more harmful than typical schoolyard bullying (Webster, 2005). It is believed to be worse than schoolyard bullying because there is no escape from cyberbullying. We can be contacted 24/7 via the Internet or our phones so we can be reached anytime and anyplace; so home is no longer a safe haven from the bullies (Webster, 2005).
Not only does bullying affect many throughout the world, but there is many different types of bullying that affect many people. There are commonly four different types of bullying. These include physical bullying, in which is when one hits, punches, kicks, or pinches another person. Also there is verbal bullying, that is when any type of rude remark is made upon another. Another type of bullying is social bullying, in which it results to one trying to harm ones social reputation, by humiliating them or spreading rumors about them. Lastly is cyber bullying, and that is a type of bullying where it occurs through technology, and it can happen to anyone at any time. Even though there are different types of bullying, it does not matter which one is done by to someone, it just takes one bully to hurt another’s feelings, or put their self-esteem down.

Bullying has been around since the beginning of time. Parents may remember when they were kids and the bully would pick on them or their friends by stealing lunch money or just getting beat up, and that was the end of it. The victims remember the hurt, frustration, and sadness it caused. However, these days, bullying is not just happening on the playground or at the bus stop, it is happening on the Internet and on cell phones, making it possible to bully a child 24 hours a day with multiple bullies and thousands of kids watching. Cyberbullying follows children nonstop and into the safety of their house. Sometimes kids are afraid to inform their parents about the cyberbullying that they will think its there fault. Or that their parents will call the bullies parents or other parents, making the bullying worse. However, the effect and pain that comes from cyberbullying is real. People underestimate cyberbullying, just because it is happening online and not in person. Cyberbullying can lead to many different factors like drinking, and drugs, poor grades, depression, eating disorders. Many students have even taken their own lives because of another student saying something to them online. Cyberbullying has been taking place a lot more in middle and high schools because of the increased usage of social media networks and technology. Cyberbullying is worse and more harmful than traditional bullying.
For several decades, bullying has spread significantly. It has been present all over the world for as long as people can remember. And when technology was released, it created new ways for people to communicate, which made bullying become even worse than before. Adults, teenagers, and children that are all the same are being bullied. Bullying can take form in many different ways, as well as it can affect the victim, and people are also able to stop the behavior.
Bullying is a bad thing but the worst of all the types of bullying is cyber bulling, it is a terrible weapon that can destroy someone's life and reputation. Cyber bullying is a part of bullying in which a person torments or harasses other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner, with technology. It has had a much greater effect on the world more than the traditional way of bullying.
Bullying is considered a behavior that is aggressive (Duy, pg.987). Another word for bullying is victimization. There are three things that make a persons' behavior considered bullying. One is aggressiveness or purposefully harming someone that causes anguish. Another is repeated actions over a period of time. The third thing is there is an imbalance of power, where the bully shows their dominance towards another person to intimidate them. There are researchers who claim there are three different ways of bullying, physical, verbal, and psychological. Physical bullying is harming someone by punching, kicking, pushing or beating. Verbal bullying examples are verbal threats, making fun of someone by name calling, spreading rumors, and insults. Psychological bullying is said to be writing threats and damaging or destroying someone's property (Duy, pg. 988). Other studies have five categories of bullying, indirect, relational, physical, verbal and generic. Relational bullying
