In the earliest centuries of art entertainment, music was considered an expensive form of art exclusively for the upper class. As the art progressed, materials that were used for centuries in other ways became common in the musical profession. From the beginning of time to modern day music, the cymbal has progressed and improved to become one of the most versatile yet simplest instruments in any band. The progress of cymbals lies in part in the hands of those who create it as well as the materials and techniques they choose to make it. The cymbal as the world knows it today began thousands of years ago with multiple different uses and has evolved into its own art form mastered by few to invent thousands of cymbals seen in multiple music scenes across the world.
The cymbal, a common percussion instrument, varies both in style and use simply by how it is constructed and the materials used to construct it. While the common person would easily mistake a cymbal to be a very simplistic and elementary instrument of the percussion family, a cymbal’s size, weight, and even indention pattern can impact not only the type of cymbal, but also the sound it creates. Throughout the cymbal’s existence, talented craftsmen have perfected the art of cymbal making. Materials such as bronze, nickel silver, and brass are most commonly used to manufacture

My 2nd point is to explain how “modern” drumming began and what a modern drum set is ("Ringo starr," ).
The Ottoman Empire continued its impact on civilization making strides in art and in music. Because of the Ottoman empire, the percussion instruments were added to further shape the orchestral sound. Cymbals, kettle drum, bells and the side drum were all copied from their use in Ottoman music. Even today, the baton used by drum majors in parades can
One of the reasons I am going for Drum Major this year is because of the growth that I have seen from the current DM’s throughout their high school careers. I met Emma, Madeline, and Tabby as a freshman and seeing how much they would mature to become strong, independent leaders is something I never initially expected. The personal growth that one gains from leadership is one of the reasons why I believe everyone should experience a leader position at least once in their lifetime. From my year as Drill Instructor, I was able to learn quite an impressive amount, however I believe that I still have quite a ways to go before I am satisfied with my skills as a leader. One of my aspirations is to become a Doctor and have the opportunity to help those
We can usually listen to the music in various scenes in life. But we don't often just concentrated on listening. The same was the case with me before. Especially, I was ignorant in classical music. But now I like listening to orchestra concert from the front row seats. It is a quite wonderful experience. Since my children start learning how to play the violin, I came to listen to classical music. After I could a little understand artistic features of classical music, I listened to it with rapt attention. I especially came to like Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. I was listening it through only my computer, but on the whole I was satisfied.
Different instruments for these songs included; bugles, drums, and fifes. The fife and drum dates back to the 1530’s Swiss Army. It arrived from Europe into the colonial America and instantly became a traditional music for the military. Fife and drums were used as a way of communication in battle. Drummers had to learn 39 different beats. 24 were used for marching cadence and 14 were for general use. The brass band era became popular in the 1850’s.
When Chad Smith graduated high school in 1980, he encountered one of his most important musical experiences. Chad Smith was invited to start drumming with a band. The band was named ‘Pharaoh’ and it was a hit band around the year 1981. When he started playing with this band, Chad Smith met the band’s percussionist, Larry Fratangelo. With this experience, Chad’s drumming was increasing dramatically. “I think up until then, I was a drummer. Once I studied with Larry, I turned into a
Throughout the many years of time, music has been associated with the lives of humans. Ranging from the oldest recorded music in 1888, The Lost Chord, to Motherese, or the way that mothers “sing” to their babies to communicate to them, to our modern music of radio stations blaring our favourite song while we drive from place to place. Music has found its place within human lives, intertwining its existence with ours. Incredibly enough, humans have found a way to harness music with our very hands and create elegant melodies from tools. Beginning with instruments that look like a guitar, instruments that look like a flute and instruments that look like a drum, we began making controlled music with rhythms and harmonies. As years passed and civilization began to grow, musicians came to be. These ancient musicians played music for others on the instruments that they would make and performed for many.
Once you come to the beautiful land of Hawaii and see delightful sights, there’s no doubt you’ll also hear Hawaiian songs with the great and elegant ukulele. The ukulele is a small, four-stringed guitar of the Hawaiian origin. Many people love to hear the unique sounds that the ukulele makes when being played. Also, it’s really entertaining to watch people play this one of a kind instrument, as it’s either played calmly or fast. The ukulele is greatly well known for making people all over the world smile and significantly bond with their friends and family.
I want to try to my best capability to help and further the potential of this band. Even though we are losing many great seniors this year- we can still pursue greater things. I have nearly been on leadership before and I understand the values and expectations that have already been set. I enjoy working alongside all the fellow students here in the band and can’t wait for next marching season!
Through out the years, music has developed and many genres have been created and have been evolved. During the 1960s, music started to become louder. Drummers were required to hit their drums and cymbals harder to fit the style of music (6). While jazz styles were still widely popular, music was being created in a straight and loud feel, and it has remained that way to this very day (7). Many modern drummers have taken the influences of drummers from the early 20th century and they are using it in music today. With all this development in styles of music, the drum kit evolved along with them.
A cyclops was a one-eyed monster. The first cyclopes were Arges, Steropes, and Brontes. They were the sons of Uranus and Gaea. These three cyclopes were locked in Tartarus by, Cronus and Uranus. After being released, they helped Zeus fight in the Titanomachy. Another cyclops who was more famous was Polyphemus. He was the son of Poseidon.
Ukuleles, what makes them so special? Why devote an entire paper to them? Obvious questions for everyone who are not familiar with the instrument, however those who know they instrument as well as someone who plays them know they have a vibrant history, are perfect for entertaining and creating, and more so than the average stringed instrument like the more popular big brother, the acoustic guitar, are warmly unique.
Our seven piece kit is being sold at the same price as those offered by Pearl and Tama, while our eight piece kit is $100 cheaper than Tama’s eight piece kit. Ours is $50 more expensive than Pearl’s eight piece kit; however we feel our product to be vastly superior to theirs, and therefore do not anticipate this slight difference as being problematic. We will also be offering out 100 kits initially to established artists as endorsements. These kits will be distributed, free of charge, to 42 pre-selected musicians, in the hope that by being used by these artists, other musicians who are influenced by these drummers will be eager to also purchase a kit.
The saxophone was invented in 1840 by Adolphe Sax,a Belgian instrument maker, flautist, and a clarinetist. The first saxophone that was patented was on the 18th of June 1846.The place the first saxophone was played was Brusother Assembales sells then Mr.Sax moved to Paris and sold saxophones there. He also made several improvements to the bass clarinets. Mr.Sax wanted the saxophone to be at an octave unlike the clarinets, that rises in pitch. The saxophone rises in pitch by a twelfth if overblown. Overblown instruments have identical fingering for both registers. Mr. Sax invented a quartet of saxophones including the alto, soprano, tenor and baritone. The clarinet and saxophone are very much alike even though they don't look anything like.
