I`m going to be talking about the D.A.R.E. program and what it's taught kids like me. First, let me tell you what D.A.R.E. stands for. D.A.R.E. is an acronyn that represents Drug Abuse Resistance Educataion. Did you know that most teens don’t drink alchohol? This is just 1 of the many facts that I learned in D.A.R.E. One of the first things Officer Frazier (our instructor) taught us was you have to be 21 or older to obtain alchohol and 18 (19 in some states) or older to use tobacco. One of my personal experiences with drugs is at a baseball game when I was sitting in a chair watching the ballgame and I smelt ciggaratte smoke. So I moved to a different place. I personally really DISLIKE the smell of tobacco. Which leads me into the topic of …show more content…
Decision-Making Model is a plan on how to solve your problems including drugs, alchohol, relationships etc. D.A.R.E. stands for Define Assess Respond Evaluate in this plan. Let me tell you how to use the D.A.R.E. Decision-Making Model. When you Define you describe the problem, challenge, or opportunity. Assess is when you ask yourself "what are your choices?" When Responding you make a choice. Use the facts and information you have collected. Last, which is Evaluate you review your decision. Did you make a good choice? These are the steps when you have problems you want to solve. If you want to practice using the D.A.R.E. Decision-Making Model just describe yourself a situation and go through …show more content…
The topics are bullying and peer pressure. You may wonder how these relate to each other, well let me tell you. Say your friend invites you over to your house and they tell you that they found a ciggerate in their yard and want to see how you use it. Think about the problem, if you say no your friends may not like you anymore, but if you say yes you are doing something you know is wrong and may lead to other problems and punnishment. You have to pick the best solution to the problem. In this case, saying no would be the best answer because you know it is not the right thing to do and if your friends want to do that and they don’t like you because you say no then they were not good friends anyways. Now to get into the bullying. After you say no they start saying mean things about you to other people, this is bullying. One night you are on your computer and you get a message from them and they said that you were dumb and that no one likes you, this is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is when someone is bullying you over the internet or online. When you report bullying you have to think about the five W's. The five W's are Who, What, When, Where, Why. Make up statements including each of W's when reporting a
What is D.A.R.E. class? DARE is a class we have been in for the last couple weeks. It is taught by Deputy Morris. DARE stands for drug abuse resistance education. A DDMM is a DARE decision making model. The DDMM says to define, assess, respond, evaluate. Those are the main parts of DARE.

America is wasting money on campaigns that don’t work. D.A.R.E, a program that goes to schools in America, hasn’t made any more progress than giving five dollars to a psychopath murderer. (Vance 1) D.A.R.E. is a program that schools use to explain what drugs do to you, and how they affect your life. A national survey on Drug Use and Health led made by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services says; “Drug
Drug Abuse Resistance Education programs are the most widely used drug education programs targeted towards elementary children in the United States. Since the 1980’s over a million children across the United States have been introduced to the D.A.R.E’ program. The program began implementing there curriculum into school system to educate children on drugs and gangs. The common goal for this program is to deter students from the hard life of drugs and gangs and help them steer on the right path.
The D.A.R.E. program has introduced many different ideas to me. Some of the things are: why drugs and alcohol are bad for you and how to deal with bullying. The D.A.R.E. decision making model has helped me with many different topics and problems. D.A.R.E. is one of the funnest things we have to do in school and i am sad that we are almost done with the program.
D.A.R.E is something you can learn so much from. D.A.R.E helps kids all around the world by showing them that there is better things to do besides drugs and alcohol. The kids that follow D.A.R.E do not usually get into trouble. They also always have somewhere to go. In my community I have somewhere to go if you want to hang out. Also if you do hang out you have a drug and alcohol free place. I really like D.A.R.E.
I remember the D.A.R.E. programing and I learning about the side effects of drugs. From young age I was educated about the dangers of drugs from my parents and this program helped solidify the dangers about drug abuse for me. However, I do believe that these sort of programs should continue into teen years as well. I believe that programs these programs can be even more effective if they continue them through high school graduation to continually reminder the student's the importance of living a drug free life. I believe that discussing how to avoid situations at which one may be put in a difficult position or how to not give into peer
Another prevention program is the school-based Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (D.A.R.E). D.A.R.E. is a non-profit tax-exempt organization that oversees the training law enforcement receives in order to provide education in the schools on drug use. D.A.R.E also markets for the program, licenses merchandise, and conducts assessment and research. D.A.R.E has 4 regional training centers that are funded annually by the U.S. Department of Justice grant. In addition, states receive individual funding from different sources (Cost of D.A.R.E, 2014).
The things I learned in D.A.R.E is about drugs and not to do them or you will get drunk and if you drive…. BOOOOOM you might get in a car crash and nobody wants that to happen. What we also learned about drugs is not to take them from other people or you might die or if you take the drugs you can still slowly die.
The first important topic we learned about in D.A.R.E was on drugs and alcohol and how not to abuse them. We learned many important things, such as the effects of drugs and alcohol on the mind and body and how a great number deaths occur
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program known as D.A.R.E has become a very widespread and popular program throughout the United States. The program appeals to all ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic lines, which is a large part of the reason why the DARE program has grown exponentially. The program’s basic premise was meant to introduce kids to the danger of drugs, before the drugs got to them. The implementation of the DARE program appeared to be what America needed to begin to put a dent in the war on drugs.
The first topic is about bullying and what to do when it's happening. One thing you could do is tell a trusted adult or teacher when you see bullying going on. You could also stand up for the person even if you don't like the person. An important thing to remember when telling an adult what's happening is the 5 W’s (When,Where, Who, What, and Why). Next time you'll know what to do when someone's getting bullied.
