During the 1980’s indulging in homosexual activity was considered in crime, people were imprisoned when caught doing so. But in 2003 some parts of the United States, suspended the law, and made homosexuality legal, soon European countries such as Canada, Belgium, and Netherlands passed an act which approved of homosexual weddings (Bonvillain 2006). If one digs deeper into this issue, where these debatable, one can find that it roots back from religions. Most religion disapprove of homosexuality but in religions such as Hindu, for sexuality, scriptures of homosexual activity only stated that it was normal and natural, to be attracted to the same sex (Bonvillain 2006). But in today’s society the main issue is regarding the issue of males being attracted to each other, an example of this issue is ‘Homophobia of men’. Homosexuality is considered to be a cultural construct, which apart from the ‘lesbian identities’ gave rise to the ‘gay identities’ (Herek 1986). It is common for normal men, to avoid influencing with homosexual men, as they fear what the public might think of them being judged as not ‘masculine’, where as its more normal for woman to associate with lesbians or homosexual women, as they are not being judged by the rest of the females (Herek 1986). Studies showed, that the social construction of gay identities meant that there was something psychologically wrong with that person,
There are many mysterious and unknowns in the death of Hae Min Lee. There are many different people who could be looked at as a suspect. However the jury decided that one kid by the name of Adnan Syed, the ex boyfriend of Hae, was responsible for her death. I am going to explain why I think the Jury was incorrect, and did not have enough evidence to convict Adnan for the death of Hae Min Lee.
Shi Huangdi was the first emperor of China and can be considered on the best rulers of China or even more so of all time. Shi Huangdi united all of China, he took all of the conflicts in the warring states of China and resolved those conflicts and put them under one rule. Strict laws and punishments kept the people of his rule at peace, and everyone learned the same language which contributed to helping unite the people of China. All wars were brought to an end and all weapons were taken and melted for statues or other structures being built. The realization of the homosexuality in the modern western world as a cultural, sexual and a social category has been a result of complex power relations that surround sexuality and gender. The acceptance of homosexuality in the society has met its fair share of resistance and skepticism. The view that homosexuality can be in the same league as heterosexual has led it to be viewed as a normal behavioral and moral standard (Gallagher & Baker, 2006). Inasmuch as the skeptics may not want to accept the existence of homosexuality studies show that the habit is rampant today with many gay people coming out in the open. Of interest is the political acceptance of homosexuality with passing gay rights so that it can be recognized by law. This move has given homosexuals the ability to engage in legal entities like marriage (Gallagher & Baker, 2006).
The results of this structure, consistent religious participation, routine coverage of religious writing, and frequent collaboration with religious groups can possibly boost anti-homosexual attitudes; furthermore, when religious preachers speak of the “word” of God to the masses, followers are less likely to question the “why” it is wrong to be gay, but instead follow a belief that has a negative perception on the LGBT community, for it is God’s word. Also, it leaves little room for anyone to question the validity; of the ideology that homosexuality is unconventional because the religion itself and the people participating in it consider it is true without a doubt for the reason that it is God’s word. It is somewhat similar to a black sheep stuck in the middle of a crowed white sheep horde, which must continue moving on with the group, for that is what all the other sheep’s are doing. The religious’ judgment on gay sexuality affects the people contributing to the principle, but also those of non-religious backgrounds, for there is an unintended recollection that same-sex attraction is incorrect since he/she has heard that religion has stated it is sinful. “Research on religious contexts has suggested that even people who are not personally religious may be influenced by the religious culture in which they live” (Adamczyk 340). If the religious context is more disapproving of homosexuality in a country, then anti-homosexual sentiment may be displayed and voiced through
The discrimination of homosexuality is prevalent around the world nowadays. Take Russia as an example. Vladimir V. Putin, Russia’s president, who signed a few laws to declare war on homosexuals in 2014 (BBC). The adoption of Russian-born children is banned to gay couples and also to people living in any country where equal marriage is respected (BBC). Also, Police officers has the authority to arrest tourists and foreign nationals who suspect of being homosexual and detain them under the new law. Russian gay rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev is attacked at a demonstration (BBC). Another antigay bill classifies ‘’homosexual propaganda’’ as pornography. Moreover, Teacher in Russia will be subjected to arrest and fines if they teach students that homosexuality is normal (BBC).
