Challenge in the community
Dallas’s foster care system is currently facing a shortage of foster homes and a high turnover rate among caseworkers and foster care parents. According to Dallas news, in the last year, 49 children spent two or more nights in CPS offices or nearby hotels because state workers couldn’t find them a suitable place to stay. It is also indicated that more than 30 percent of CPS workers such as investigators and foster care workers are quitting each year. This is a major threat since it prevents our system from keeping children safe.
Solution
Manhattan Construction Company plans to help solving the issue by building a treatment center located in Dallas and maintaining the daily operation after the completion of the construction. …show more content…

Overall budget
Phase 1 and 2, construction expenses, will cost around $1,138,223. Phase 3 and 4, operation expenses, will cost $499,306 on average. In summary, our project is estimated to reach a total of $1,637,529. Half of the cost which is $818,764.50 will be funded by Manhattan Construction Company. We are requesting the Dallas Chambers of Commerce to be our sponsor and support our fund by providing the other half of our budget.
Impact
Building a treatment center in Dallas will provide another home that is safe and well-equipped for children to stay. It will also increase the space availability for the Dallas’s foster care system. Hiring employees and having them go through proper trainings will prepare them to take great care of children in our foster care facility. It is important to undergo these trainings so that all of the workers can have deeper knowledge about children’s behaviors and know how to respond sufficiently and quickly to each individual situation. Furthermore, providing adequate trainings from the beginning will reduce the turnover rate of caseworkers; if people are not well-prepared for the tasks they have to perform, there will be a greater chance of them quitting their
