Damaging Students Brains
(Standardized Testing)
It doesn’t matter if you're in Elementary school, Middle school or even High school everybody in school has to take test in every subject for everything. Year after year you come back to school just to retake the same test you did last year to see if your in the average scoring that you should be for your class grade year. I believe that schools should not test students with a standardized test to see if they are where they need to be. Many kids learn at a different speed, it's wasting a lot of money and we should have different test for different people on how to test them to see if there where they need to be.
First I don’t believe we should use standardized testing to test the kids

Every year students take the same test over and over again and don't take them seriously. The kids don't think they should take those test seriously, because they have to take them over and over every year. The maps test is a test that score you on a number grid and at a certain grade you should be in a certain number ranger. Kids just speed through that test every year they take it because they're getting tired of having to take that test over every year. The state does look at the score that the school as a whole gets on those test but if the kids don’t care we will be seen as a low school and have people come watch to see if it's the school that's not teaching anything or if it's the students aren’t learning what they are suppose to be. It's a big waste of money to keep taking this test every year if the kids don’t care about taking it seriously, they don’t care because they don’t see the results on how much it affects the school that they just speed through it and don’t care what they …show more content…
We can’t give everybody the same test and expect them to do good on it and not care that some people just don't do good on test. If you have a fish, monkey and a giraffe you can't give them all the same test to climb up a tree and whoever stays in it the longest is the smartest out of those three. Fish cant climb trees and neither can giraffes but if you give them all different test for each of them then the results will be better and they will all be the smartest. Fish are good swimmers, monkeys are good climbers and giraffes are good for reaching really high branches. So give each student a test that they can pass and do good on that fits them. Don’t just give them all one test and a number range they should be in there not going to do so good on that test. But, if you give each kid a test that fits each of them and they can do good on then you will see better scores thought out the
Did you know, out of 65 countries 29 did better at the standardized tests than the U.S? Some people support the use of standardized tests and some are against the. I think standardized tests are not a good idea because they overpopulate schools, only test students on part of a subject, and stresses students out.
Would you like to take a test that is unfair, expensive, and unreliable? Chances are you already have. Standardized testing in schools is not only bad for the students, but also bad for our country’s future. Some might think standardized testing is a good thing, because it is the only way to measure all students the same across the country. However, this thought is wrong for many reasons.
Don’t all students hate standardized tests. They waste lots of time and don’t influence your grade so then what’s the point of them. I think that students shouldn’t take standardized tests. First of all students take the test in May and don’t get the results until September so the test doesn’t do much. Lots of teachers also only teach to the test meaning they only prepare them to pass the test. Students might know the content but because of test anxiety they might not be able to show it on the test.
Some would argue that standardized tests test everybody on the same level and it shows how well the students are taught by the teachers. This is true but not everybody learns on the same level and some don’t take tests very well.
Why must the child participate in standardized testing each year? Isn’t once every two years enough? Standardized testing is a topic that has been going around for quite a while now, and isn’t going away any time soon. Going to school basically means, just going to learn how to pass the test now a days. Standardized testing isn’t healthy, it creates anxiety, makes the kid learn just to pass the test. A test doesn’t or shouldn’t measure how intelligent a student is.
Standardized Testing can be both a benefit to the educational community and a very serious problem. Standardized Testing is said to have negative effects on both the students and the teachers. Standardized Testing has created many problems and has become a very big factor in politics. Some people argue that the government is influencing the education system. While others believe that the government isn’t involved enough. There are many pros and cons to both but the cons outnumber the pros.
I feel the emphasis on testing unfairly focuses on funding rather than the education of the students. With teachers and administration fighting to keep their schools open cheating is occurring at an increasing rate and results are inaccurate. I feel it is important to teach the students what needs to be taught, rather than worrying about the abundance of test prep. The stress to perform well on standardized
Imagine, a world where there was no more standardized testing. Standardized testing is definitely something that all schools use now. Standardized testing is traced back from “seventh-century China, when the government began administering written exams to select candidates for the civil service.”(Standardized Testing).Standardized testing in the pass to now is being used to classify students into their classes. (Standardized testing). Standardized testing should be eliminated from schools.
I think the schools is putting to much emphasis on the Standardized Test. I think the government is trying to make the standardized test hard and hard each year I think the government wanna make the students in the school's fail there test's. Because it's no point they making the test hard and hard for the students to pass I think they should be making the test easier for the students to pass and get out of the school early so they don't have to worry about school no more. I think the parents of the kids that fail the Standardized test should have a protest go up to Washington D.C go to the white house and stand by the gates and protest. The government would listen to the kids that's not a factor to them government only care about the money
Do you ever feel like test never have what you actually learned? Some people support standardized test and some people are against it. I believe that tests do not help the students because testing is expensive, the teachers need to spend more time on what kids struggle with, and should send less time preparing and learn what we need to learn.
I hope to prove that standardized testing is not the way to learn about the child's capability of learning or comprehension. I believe that too many tests are standardizing because it's only beneficial to the schools for their gain in state funding. Being a teacher myself, I see often day in; day out. Students have different learning styles and different teaching techniques that one must apply to reach them, and to do so we must go outside the box. So although, standardized testing may be good for some of students we cannot place others on the same plateau. Some of them that lack that basic concentration for a normalized test, and can be missed judged because if the test would be administered in a way to achieve full
The average student takes 112 standardized tests before age 18. Most students believe that this excessive testing is to harsh. In some school systems testing can start in kindergarten and even starts as early as preschool! Testing should be reduced because students get too stressed out, they stay up too late studying and they don’t get good grades in other classes. I think that when we have this much testing then we don't get to do much learning and we don't get the knowledge we need. Kids also do not get to do things that can be good for mental health such as, sports and music.
What do you think about standardized tests? Even though schools may need the standardized tests, they need to change or be fixed very soon. The standardized tests are needed but need to be changed because there are too many of them, the United States gets outperformed by other countries on the tests, and they are repetitive and redundant.
Standardized tests are one of many menaces to the school system. The Board of Education use this testing method to determine students education level. The tests grade on the students adequate yearly progress. To see how much and how well they have learned from the year's curriculum. However, the tests are severely misjudged. The government initiated test is also used to grade on how well the teachers teach to curriculum. Standardized testing is highly biased, and irrelevant to how education is brought in the school. Students should be judged on how well they analyze and decipher information. Not on how well they can use low-level skills on a standardized multiple choice test.
For millions of students across America, the arrival of springtime means one thing: time for standardized tests. Students are often filled with dread over the thought of having to sit in stuffy, cramped rooms for hours at a time without snacks, water, or breaks, in order to take a mind-numbing test for their school. After completing these time-sensitive, high pressure tests, they are used to measure the average intelligence per school in each city, county, and state in the nation. Exams are repeated for days on end, taking away precious in-class time from teachers, and legitimate learning opportunities from students of all ages. Standardized tests should be abolished in schools.
