Rhythm, in dancing is also known as a basic element of music. It is natural to beat out the rhythm. Rhythm can but used with sticks or other objects or good movements. Dance can also begin with patterns in service of ritual. The chorus is originally just such a dance, and it was performed in a circle in honouring of God. The history in dance was very interesting in many ways. Early dancing around the world was used to tell stories. Back then, Native Americans would have celebrations with dancing around a campfire. This dance was known as folk dancing. Ballet was known to tell stories. Theses stories were passed down by generations. But during the time, the Opera’s ballroom dance was popular. In the 1920’s, their were dancers, and they were known as the “Flapper”. During that time period, women would smoke, brank, and cut their hair, wore makeup, took risk, and danced. This time period today is called the “Roaring Twenties”. The Roaring Twenties would have young women with bobbed hair and short skirts, who would brink and smoke. In the 1920’s most young women did not of that, But many did adopt a fashionable flapper wardrobe. Popular dance today, people would take more risks than back then. But however dancing had become more independent over the generations. Contemporary dance began at the start of the 20th century. When US dancer Isadora Duncan broke away from ballet, she started to developed her own natural style in 1878-1927. Contemporary dance has many different styles, but some often closely linked to music such as jazz, rock in roll, hip-hop ect. But when did dance start? The first record dancing by our definition is among the ancient civilizations of the middle East and India and among the people in America, Australia, and Africa. Actual dance forms appear to have been in place in India around 6000 B.C. Why do people do dance? They do it because it can be used for physical fitness, or if they had a bad day or something , then they could dance it off and kinda cool down. One other reason people might dance is because dancing is very entertaining, so therefore, where does dance live in our society today?
Dance can show us a variation of things whether it is a story plot or retelling history events. Dance becomes an art when done with passion and enthusiasm. The audience can connect and respond with the dancer if done properly. When we use dancing in a story line musical we are attempting to give the audience a deeper understanding. As every story every musical has a “moral to the story” or main idea.
Dance has been around for a long time, it is older than many other popular sports we have. It takes on the physical capacity to be labeled as a sport, and yet in most cases, it is not. It is one of the few activities that is both a sport and an art, but it is given very little respect as a sport. Dance has evolved in a number of ways throughout time, but it has always been through a meaning. Whether that be dancing for love or faith, or dancing for first place.

When considering the Research Project my goal was to develop a question that would truly interest and excite me. Therefore I considered what I was interested in and what I was hoping to get out of undertaking this project, when writing what I was interested in words such as fashion, hair, make-up, social media and body image all caught my attention. School formal was something I believed fell under all interests. I have always looked forward to the school formal, having never attended one I was unaware of what a school formal entailed specifically what is expected, I then used a general to specific triangle in order to create some possible research questions. Through the use of a general
Jem, Scout, and Dill were three kids raised in the Deep South in a small town known as Maycomb, Alabama in the early 1930’s. These kids grew up around racism and prejudice all their life. Atticus Finch, the father of Scout and Jem, raised the kids by himself with later help by Aunt Alexandra. During this part of the children’s lives, a positive, genuine, black man by the name of Tom Robinson was falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch was the defense attorney of this trial and did everything he could to free him. Most people today would view this way of living as ruthless and wrong, but in these times, it was just another day. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee painted a solid picture of the theme of loss of innocence through Dill, Scout, and Jem and their experiences in the story.
This is what I learned about dances in the Renaissance time. I learned that dance has evolved throughout time. Dance is still even important to some cultures today. Dance has become more than just an art, it has become a part of our everyday lives. It’s a way to meet people and get to know people. Many of these things I didn’t even know, but still found fascinating! I found this stuff very interesting and I hope you did
One thing that contributed to the popularity of dancing in the 1920s is how universally simple they made the dances. If these dances would have been harder to learn, not as many people would have been doing them. Many people know that, during the “Jazz Age, almost everyone danced so they did a dance almost anyone could do”(Nelson). When Billie Putman was growing up, there were dances every weekend at the big auditorium in the middle of town. Everyone in her small town would show up to dance. She remembered going to the dances with her mom to help her serve refreshments downstairs, while most of the town was upstairs dancing. If dancing was so popular in such a small town in Idaho, it’s unimaginable how influential it must have been in big cities(Nelson).

Dance is the word that is broadly that used to define a human behavior characterized by expressive movements of the body. Modern Dance is a free expressive way style of dancing that was developed in the early 20th century as an insurgent against ballet. Dance began as a form of communication and storytelling. Thousands of years ago dancing served as a way for people to tell a story and helped distract themselves of the hardships they faced. Furthermore, dance was a form of storytelling through communication, which then turned into using storytelling through dance as entertainment. According to the History World, many dancers during the BC time danced in front of only a few people to get a story across. That later turned into hundreds of thousands of people as dance was used by many. Today, dance is also a form of entertainment and storytelling, but in a modern sense. However, today perfection and technique are stressed more than they were in the past. Yet, the passion for dance has not changed. Many dancers who share this passion also have many of the same qualities. Among a discourse community of trained dancers, one expects to find individuals who are healthy and active athletes, expect perfection from themselves through competition, and religiously attend dance performances.
Dance is said to have existed prior to the invention of written languages, and was perhaps an essential aspect of storytelling for the passing of knowledge and information from generation to generation. And it has been, since time immemorial, a part of every culture and religion as a means of self and collective expression.
There are many different “worlds” on this planet we live on called Earth. Everyone alive lives in some kind of little “world” of their own. There is a particular world that some live in, and that is the World of Dance. When you are a part of that world, you literally live and breathe it. Every aspect of the dance culture is wrapped up in that world. To those looking in from the outside it is beautiful, filled with lights, lovely costumes, mesmerizing music, and graceful movements.
These dances eventually evolved to include praise songs and myths that were enacted by trained dancers and actors. By the end of the 5th century BC, these dance dramas were part of entertainment and provided social and political commentary on the times. Amongst the Romans, dance waxed and waned in acceptance by the powers that ruled. Until 200 BC, dance brought life to Roman processions, festivals and celebrations. However, in 150 BC all of the dancing schools were closed as Roman nobility considered dance as suspicious and even dangerous activity of the masses. Dancing has come a long way since ancient times. But there are still some similarities. When people thought up these dances they were trying to express themselves, their emotions, their problems and beliefs. Today we do the same thing. We make up dances according to our attitudes, beliefs, thoughts and feelings. The future will also contain dances that will reflect that society. There are many different kinds of dances. There is ballet, line dancing, slow dancing, the list goes on and on. Some of these dances are slow. Some of them are fast. They all use different type of instruments. Each dance representing a time, an event, an expression or feeling. Each dance expressing something different. Dances will never die. They are too interconnected in the
