There are three ways I will take advantage of the Daniels Scholars Program: first education, second service, and third dedication. As a Daniels Scholar, I would put education first. I would seek to achieve the highest grades and attend the most rigorous classes; to set and achieve high goals; and to use any academic opportunity available to learn, grow, and push myself. As a Daniel's Scholar, I would diligently serve and love my family and community. I was raised in a loving home by parents who lived and taught service to their children. Any opportunity to serve or to do what was right, they pushed us to answer those opportunities. In my college years, and in the years beyond, I know I will always take the time and energy to love and serve

I demonstrated scholarship by being on Seneca’s Principal's list six out of the eight semesters I have attended so far. The other two semesters I was on the Honor roll. In addition, I finished freshman and sophomore year with a 4.0 GPA. This shows that I am a dedicated student who sees the necessity of having good grades. For service, during the summer of freshman and sophomore

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” –Henry David Thoreau. This quote demonstrates everything I wish to achieve while attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Through this school and the amazing music program, I plan to become an even better leader, teacher, student, and trombone player. Having my work ethic, planning, and determination I have made it this far and I do not plan to slow down any time soon. Due to my accomplishments in my past and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead of me and that I strive for, I would feel honored to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship. I consider myself deserving of an MDC Scholarship because I am going up against all doubt. I am fighting against my circumstances and my own self expectations. I am the first and only out of my siblings to get a high school diploma. I am the first in my family to pursue a higher education. This life lesson has influenced me to become a member of various community projects and organizations; promoting change in my community. Service is a value very dear to me because I love to give back to the community and help people who are in need. Truth is the core value that defines the integrity of a person's character. Truth defines me simply because I believe honesty is the best policy. To be trustworthy is to be accountable and dependable. I would enhance the legacy of Howard University by bringing excellent leadership skills, team working skills, honesty, integrity, and excellence. I would bring new innovative ideas and perspectives to the university through my diverse approach on sensitive subject matter such as Racial Disparities in America to Gender Equality for Women. I also would bring my drive for community service to the many programs on the University's campus such as their Alternative Spring Break. The core values that the university holds dear are the same motives that push me to make a difference in the world. I live by these values daily which would prove me to be a great addition to Howard University’s
Being that I am a first-generation college student, finding guidance as I matriculate through college has been tough. I do not have any family members that have went to college, therefore I solely depend on my university for guidance in my college endeavors and my career path. Due to this, I want to be a part of the TRiO Scholars Program so that I can gain valuable advice, counseling services, and guidance to graduation. The experience that I am seeking in this program is the ability to meet and connect with other students like myself. I believe that to be able to identify with students who have come from various hardships like myself, allows for personal growth and a sense of community. I hope to gain this sense of community by participating
Scholarship is the dedication and commitment to education and learning. I believe that as a child growing up, education is the most extensive thing part of anyone’s life. Not only is it about doing well in your classes and making acceptable and superb grades, but learning about the history of how our nation has changed throughout the years and why certain things are the way it is today in our society. Education helps one achieve their goals in which they have dreamed of. With school, I have always been dedicated to maintaining a 6.5 GPA not only for colleges, but because my mother’s past of not being able to live the life she wanted to because of school gives me a high sense of motivation to achieve and do better in school for a better future. I consider myself a great scholar because I strive for excellence every day and to do my absolute best with tests and papers that are assigned. Yet, each year I have fulfilled my academics with rigorous classes that I can handle to, help me reach the true potential of a student I am but as well as preparing myself once I graduate. As into maintaining the grades, I have put a lot of time and effort into school such as
I believe that my academic strengths, leadership ability, and appreciation of those who are different from me make me a great candidate for the Jefferson scholarship.
If you are selected as a Daniels Scholar, how will you make the most of the opportunities that the program provides? How will you enhance the reputation and legacy of the Daniels Fund as a Daniels Scholar?
I feel I deserve this scholarship, because I have overcome many things in my life to get me this far. The activities that I have been involved with have helped me grow as a person and have allowed me to reach out to others. The activities that I have been involved with include among others, interact club, and the rotc program I feel I deserve this scholarship because I achieve my goals by working hard, study and whatever it takes to get me there.
Scholarship isn’t just a commitment of learning for me, but more of a priority to learn. I view this pillar and an opportunity to challenge myself to my fullest potential. I challenge myself by taking every honors/ap course that is given because it makes me commit to do my very best at all times. My love for learning wasn’t always so strong. There was a period in my life where I actually hated school. All through elementary school, I never understood why school was so important; it all seemed like a waste of time. However, my seventh grade science teacher lit a spark in me and ever since then my love for learning has only grown. Therefore, I make a commitment every year to do the best I can in school because we are a country who has the privilege of free education. At the end of the day I would rather get an A on a paper that I know I worked hard on for hours and skipped out on spending time with my
