At one school, the average amount of time that tenth-graders spend watching television each week is 18.4 hours. The principal introduces a campaign to encourage the students to watch less television. One year later, the principal wants to perform a hypothesis test to determine whether the average amount of time spent watching television per week has decreased. Formulate the null and alternative hypotheses for the study described.

So, we should reject the null hypothesis H0. At a 0.05 level of significance level, we conclude that there is a significant difference between the average height for females and the average height for the males.
I conducted a survey, asking 20 females and 20 males their favorite food group for my AP Statistics project. I surveyed on Wednesday, September 27 and on Thursday, September 28 at Marshall High School. They chose from protein, grain, vegetables, fruit, and dairy. From the data, I found that 10 males and 2 females liked protein best, 3 males and 2 females liked grains best, 1 male and 1 female liked vegetables best, 3 males and 13 females liked fruit best, and 3 males and 2 females liked dairy best. Half of the males liked protein best, while most females liked fruits best. The least amount of both males and females liked vegetables. From this data, we can see that males like protein more than females do, and females like fruit more than males

Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an inquiry on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature of the relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use a question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology for the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be able to interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used (Pajares 2007). A research requires a minimum of two hypotheses namely a null and an alternative hypothesis.
Select one (1) project from your working or educational environment that you would use the hypothesis test technique. Next, propose the hypothesis structure (e.g., the null hypothesis, data collection process, confidence interval, test statistics, reject or not reject the decision, etc.) for the business process of the selected project. Provide a rationale for your response.
e. Now for the same data, Test the hypothesis that the median value of the difference in weights before and after the dieting programme is non-existent. What is the name of this test? Also state what the symmetric CI for the median of the difference would be.
Consider the ski resort satisfaction data we used in class (“satisfaction.sav” in Week 7 folder). This is data based on a survey of 500 users of a ski resort. In class we did part of the analysis. In this question you will be asked to redo some of the analysis and complete the rest. For part a), b) and c), write down your null and alternative hypotheses and then discuss the hypothesis testing results based on SPSS output. Please show your SPSS output for part a), b), and c).

(f) Make the appropriate conclusion. More specifically, I want you to examine whether analyzing the data with SPSS should reject the null hypothesis. Use α = .05 (Yes, the α level has been changed from .10 to .05).
The customers in this case study have complained that the bottling company provides less than the advertised sixteen ounces of product. They need to determine if there is enough evidence to conclude the soda bottles do not contain sixteen ounces. The sample size of sodas is 30 and has a mean of 14.9. The standard deviation is found to be 0.55. With these calculations and a confidence level of 95%, the confidence interval would be 0.2. There is a 95% certainty that the true population mean falls within the range of 14.7 to 15.1.

c. Then find the 95% confidence interval for the difference between proportions. From this confidence interval, can we conclude that there is a significant difference in the proportions?
Suppose you hear an "old-timer" say, "Why, in my day, kids were much more respectful and didn't cause as much trouble as they do nowadays!" Formulate a hypothesis related to this statement that you could test. How would you test it? (100 words)
