Data Table Analysis ACC/542 May 19, 2014 Data Table Analysis Kudler Fine Foods is an upscale specialty store that is located in the San Diego area. There are three locations: La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. KFF carries the best domestic and imported fare ranging from bakery and pastry products to cheese and specialty dairy products. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the design elements of the data tables from an accounting perspective and to recommend improvements to the existing data tables. The paper will also explain how the information in the pivot table may improve decision making for management at KFF. A recommendation would be for KFF to add a purchase date so that the items can be tracked by the date purchased. This would allow them to track the purchases by the week and month. A pivot table is also attached to show ways that KFF can track spending and inventory levels. A recommendation should be made to include the pivot table in KFF’s standard operating procedures as far as inventory goes. This will allow managers and supervisors to view them and see inventory levels by different breakdowns. The pivot table attached shows KFF inventory broken down by inventory items. Under each item you can see which location and GL code purchased inventory and at what cost. This will be helpful in tracking each inventory item by location and GL code. The summary line items can also be filtered by just the certain locations/summary line item. The pivot table is also beneficial when looking at cost and information regarding the specific inventory item. Kudler Fine Foods has a very valuable inventory system at this time but there is always room for improvement. All recommendations were discussed in the paragraphs above. They have a very neat and concise inventory report on hand but adding the additional areas will give them the upper hand on tracking their inventory and also their budgets regarding their inventory. Using pivot tables and entity relationship diagrams will also be beneficial to KFF in order to categorize, organize, and track their inventory. In
