Dauntless Something about the way she was so confident. Not afraid to fall. Not afraid to crash. Things the younger me wasn’t able to relate to. She skated by with her violet colored helmet flashing in the corner of my eye. I jumped up, surprised by the sudden movement so close to me. Coming to a stop, she paused to relax her tense body and took a moment to catch her breath. Walking up to her, I introduced myself, eager to seem cool in front of a kid my age who was interesting. Her enthusiasm about meeting me encouraged me to try to befriend her. Attempting to contain her excitement, Jenna introduced me to her parents, immediately taking off outdoors. Skateboarding was one thing. Climbing trees unshaken was another. Going to the …show more content…
Don’t walk near the creek. Don’t go in the backyard. There are snakes and spiders, and people that you don’t know might talk to you. Fretting over something was something my mother always seemed to do. But I still walked along the narrow creek. I still went into the backyard where the snakes and spiders were. I still said hello to the people that passed by back there. My house in Georgia always had someone breaking the rules for arguing. Back and forth between my two sisters and brother, someone was always doing something they shouldn’t. Frustration built up and showed in the whole house, like its walls were a sponge and my family was boiling …show more content…
A chemist and an engineer, a match made in heaven, created by the angels. Strolling down the aisle, arm in arm, with a wide smile pasted on both the bride and groom’s faces, they exited the church, hopping into the awaiting vehicle. Traveling to the next location seconds later, with everyone following close behind, I could barely hold back my tears of pure happiness. Seeing your older sister and brother in law be so happy put pure joy into my heart and soul. Skipping along the sidewalk, we made our way to the wedding
It was a cold winter evening, Bea Aria Grace-Rider is 70 years old now. She was sitting by her fireplace in her rocking chair like she usually does at this time of day. Bea smiled looking out of the window at her husband, James Night Rider, sitting on the porch talking to their only son, Sunder Scar Rider.
Adversity hit me at an early age. At three years old, my mother became ill, she decided to peregrinate to those deep antique Turkish baths on the outskirt of the mansion to revive herself in sultry steamy natural water, so she can feel good and salubrious again. To my hurt, those places are not built for minor kids. At the request of my father, my mother took me with her. This huge architectural structure gave me the creeps. In addition to that I found myself left in the alcove of this mural square with deep natural rectangular shape space. In the center of this place, merges sultry a steamy source of natural dihydrogen monoxide that holds a myth for years as a miracle remedy for the body and heart. It was plenary of women relishing the relaxing
There was a split in the path. The sky was dark. I was sweating in my Indiana Jones costume. I could barely notice my family and friends next to me. The moon off to the side was are only light. My mother pointed and said
One time I had to overcome adversity is when I had an AP bio test. This was the third or fourth big test we had taken in the class and the last test before the second quarter began. The week before the test I procrastinated studying until the very last night. The night before the test I knew I had to buckle down and study for at least a couple of hours.
Although not an intellectual experience in the traditional sense, I learned something new along every step of the way. The fashion of the 60’s and 70’s was just downright tacky. Drywall used now is much thinner than what was used in the 50’s when his house was built. Blow-in insulation is no longer used in modern homes, although fiberglass has remained an important raw material used in insulation. Carpet pads are much higher quality today, but the tack strips used in the 50’s were made more durably. I learned first hand in a way I never could have during a class or extracurricular activity, and this is why this intellectual experience was so rewarding for
Tears are rolling down my face and the rest of the world is a blur around me. Waking up at 6:00 every morning to come here? Is it worth it? Hearing whispers and laughter as I walk down a hall that seems to be never ending. Yes, I have had obstacles in my life. Yes, I have been able to overcome them. I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for my friends and family.
At the time, my sister, Marsha, and I wanted to live in the small town we grew-up in; therefore, we resided with my Dad for several years. We were teenagers by then and realistically needed a great deal of discipline; unfortunately, for us, with Dad’s party side and being divorced, he remained gone the majority of the time. Unsupervised, like various other teens, we appeared at times unruly. Nearly all my relatives and the majority of the town looked on disapprovingly.
On a damp and slightly foggy evening on the coast of South Hampton, midsouth in England, a man the name of Andrew Jackson Walks onto the port of where a major role in his life is about to be fulfilled. Andrew had always seen things in his dreams but this was surreal to him. He had previously bought a ticket onto a so-called “unsinkable ship” and he was eager to see why his dream had lead him here. His dreams were always quite colorful and imaginative, but they always seemed so farfetched yet surreal. A place that he could almost imagine he was standing in the very place he was now, yet this time it only seemed like a dream, it’s a dream he has had for a long time. Going out to sea, eating divine food prepared by talented chefs, and maybe meeting a new friend or two. He thought of all this just standing there, at this marvelous
Growing up I was always around my four sisters just about 24/7, and they would drive me up the wall. It didn’t really help with our living situation that for seven or eight years we lived in this tiny two-bedroom house out in the middle of some kind of farmer’s field. I'm not quite sure how we managed to stay in that house without killing each other. We constantly fought and I’m not really sure why looking back we probably fought because we had nothing better to do than pick fights with one & other, or that house was killing us. During a storm a tree branch fell on the roof, which surprisingly didn’t go through the whole roof. That house leaked water horribly when it was raining one night, it just didn’t stop raining for hours, and our kitchen had standing water in it. We
When i am faced with adversity i act like a coffee bean. I make the best out of my problems. I try my hardest to be happy in any situation i am put in. When i’m in a difficult situation i may get soft like a carrot at first, but in the end i always make the best with what i’m faced with.
Vrrrrrrrm! I rev the engine of the go kart. The smell of the other motors’ exhaust creeps into my nose. I see seven other vehicles all painted different colors. The sound of running motors echoed through the building. I see my brother, Jake and my dad in their karts. They were up near the front so I gave them a thumbs up and wished them luck. Then, I put my helmet on and buckle the seat belt. The light over the track turns green. I push hard on the gas but get a slow start, and end up behind most of the other racers.
The man thought he killed him, as Brazen lied on the ground bloodied. After a blackout, he woke up, touching the back of his head. The early morning had gotten brighter, and he heard policeman on their way, to the scene. Brazen committed vehicular manslaughter, wondering if there were any witnesses. He got off the ground in a daze, as he used his hand as leverage crawling back into his cab. He pulled off, knowing the woman he saved was long gone. Had she stuck around wouldn't have made sense.
Cotton. The smell of cotton with a hint of polyester filled the air as sewing machines stitched fabric together in a zigzag pattern. As I sat in the back of Mrs. Kirkland's room, 400 wing, I pondered about becoming a seamstress.
Forgotten. Colt is ten years old, sitting on a bench outside Casey’s General Store by himself. He was in the bathroom when his parents left. Colt was feeling sour, because it was the third time this month his parents forgot him. He would use a phone to call them but he doesn’t have one. Then a guy walked up to him and asked, “Do you need a ride Colt?”
Lost my heart to the streets, struggling to cope, but never losing hope Aint been the same ever since, intense…. Heart Luke warm, I say that with sarcastic charm Simply because I’m in between heaven and hell This isn’t a dream I’m trying to sale Somebody post my bail Screaming “I NEED MY HEART BACK”
